Description
funny movie, still makes me laugh lol2017 edit: Yeah the background IS a stock photo, I have no idea where I got it back in 2009 when I drew this so unfortunately I can't credit anyone. Also at the time I didn't know what "traced" means, I was a kid with English as a second language. I know better now.Β

I like this picture, but please don't say the background is 'traced', it's clearly a stock photo.

Correction, looking closer, it seems to be a drawing, but that could just be the filters used. Either way, that would be pain-staking to actually trace just to be slightly hidden behind your nice original art.

They look handsome!! And I definetely agree with your opinion about the movie. It was a really alternative adaptation of Sherloch Holmes, but it was great.

"Slashiest thing you've ever seen?" You've obviously never heard of Brokeback Mountain, have you?
Haha, funny thing about the slashiness of it: A couple months before the movie was out in theaters, I was reading an article. And they mentioned rumors about Holmes being a homosexual in the movie.
Imagine how much I laughed at that. I kinda knew that it was probably false, but it made me want to see the movie even more. (By the way, I loved the slash implications I caught in the film. Makes this slash fan happy.)
On a very unrelated note..... I love Holmes' waistcoat. I love it so much. I'm trying to get one of my own, but it's hard to find one where I live.

well obviously brokeback mountain is a movie about homosexuality, the relationship there is actually canon unlike in sherlock holmes. krhm, if i may point out xD
Lmao oh god i wish we had articles like that here. I was kinda surprised of the whole thing, i never really thought of holmes and watson in that way but now the movie made me open my eyes for the infinite source of slash it's been hiding all these years all the way back from the 19th century.
DUHH I WANT ONE TOO D: all they seem to sell is those really tight waistcoats for women these days, duh fashion ruins everything neat and awesome >_>

NaomiHansen In reply to DDhew [2010-10-04 02:04:54 +0000 UTC]
Slash is still slash, whether canon or not.
Eh, ever since I started reading stuff on FanFiction.Net, I seem to get very slashy thoughts for a lot of characters. But in Sherlock Holmes' case, the movie made it fairly evident, since I never read the books or watched any of the past tv/movie adaptations for it. (Let alone thought of them as a good slash pair.)
My problem is that I can't find womens' waistcoat being sold anywhere. And besides, I kinda like my clothes on the slightly tighter side, so I'd be happy to take those if I find them.

Whoa! Your work is too epic! The misty Victorian background not only adds a touch of the classic Renaissance setting in the movie, but it also conveys the mysterious (or rather obvious) relationship these two have.
Are they really just good friends or...
Keep up the awesomeness!

then THAT MAKES TWO OF US XD now when i've been reading the original books i don't hate myself for shipping these two so much, seriously the old TV series are actually pretty far from the way the characters act in the real books. That makes the movie probably somehow my fav too : D
and awww thanks : DDD

What I really love about this, yanno, apart from the whole thing, is their expressions.
The way Watson is gazing at Holmes like 'you're an insane sociopath who almost gets the both of us killed on several occasions, but we're still epic bros (/and more, depending on your goggles) for life' makes me squee and die a little from happiness inside. Also Holmes' sort-of 'yes. I entrust my life to this man. Yes. You should be very jealous. And yes, I do know I have my hand on his shoulder and that he enjoys it' smirk/smile thing is just adorable.
Basically, I get this whole, overwhelming sense of TRUST between the two of them, which you've set here very well, I think, and that's pretty damn faithful to the original novels, because Watson really is the only source of viable, long-term human contact, and friendship, the good detective has.
(TL;DR. Most of it is probably nonsense anyway)
Long-story-short --
Definitely want to see more of these two from you.

eeeekkk a long comment : DDD woah that just made me feel so special xD
and woah that interpretation is just pretty much what i actually somehow unconciously tried to achieve with this piece. all in all this was somehow just a practise pic for the upcoming draws which are probably a bit better made (lmao the sloppy colouring makes me cry and the bg too dfskgj) and well i didn't want to make it too slashy either. i still wanted to include some expression and a feeling of tension and adventure, like their faces would be telling the viewer that SOMETHING is about to HAPPEN and WE'RE GOING TO BE AWESOME so just sit back and WATCH. but yeah for an experiment to draw people who actually LOOK like real life actors this seemed to make a lot of people happy : D
i'm glad you like it xDD hahah askfjg i'm somehow really flattered right now;; don't worry this won't end here xD

This deserved that horribly large chunk of text up there. It's awesome.
Also, I LIKE the colouring-- the messiness makes it look like they've just been on some sort of adventure, or are about to go on another one, and they look excited. Then again, I've never disliked your colouring...
Also, also, the background looks like the sketchy stuff from the credits of the movie. Just saying.
Yesssssssss be flattered. When artists are flattered, they're more inclined to drawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. ((FFFFFF I wish I knew Finnish. Seriously, fail parent. Why didn't you teach me? I want to express myself and my love of this in Finnish! Everything either sounds cuter or more badass (or a mixture of both) in Finnish!))

A wonderful picture! I also pair these two up and have done so even before the movie.
And I don't think Doyle would mind too much about the active Holmes, I mean, he really isn't that snobby in the books. It's just the TV shows that made him like that - don't get me wrong I like the shows, but I've also read many of the stories. And Watson's always been too old, in the books he's descibed as a young man.
π: 0 β©: 1
DDhew In reply to ShujiE [2010-09-14 18:58:49 +0000 UTC]
actually i agree with you so much, i've grown with the tv shows but now when i saw the movie and was all "NUUHHH THIS IS WRONNGGGG" and then i grabbed "a study in scarlet" the book and WOAH seriously, watson isn't some old fat geezer with no brain whatsoever and holmes isn't that.. yeah snobby as you desribed, THEY'RE SYMPATHETIC AND LOVABLE <3 and seriously, i bet they're secretly a couple in the books as well xD the movie actually does more justice to the original books than the old series. WHICH IS A DAMN GOOD THING : D
π: 0 β©: 2
ShujiE In reply to DDhew [2010-09-14 19:10:16 +0000 UTC]
Indeed. ^^
Luckily I had read the books before the movie came out, so I knew this Holmes and Watson. I've since heard complaints that "they're not like that" and it turns out this person has only watched them from TV.
In the books Watson's always been my favourite; in the TV version, not so much. So I'm just exceedingly happy about how they portray him in the movie. (He was dubbed HOTson at the set.)
And yes, indeed, I've always gotten the feeling that their relationship goes a bit further than friendship... or even brotherhood... but that's the Victorian way.

Watson actually is a "womanizer", he's handsome and gentleman, not a old fatty man. But sorry ladies, he belongs to Holmes! <3
This is super awesome!

And mostly I don't like Anakin at all lol he is drowning in ego.
I've always agreed more with Han Solo/Luke, I just saw fanfiction.net full of Anakin/Obi-Wan and got WTF. There's like 62 pages of it lol and only 9 of H/L 0:
