Description
"During my time on the Outer Ring world of Rød Verden, I saw many delightfully strange animals and plants. Pictured here are three of the larger and more impressive carnivores from the largest continent, Jord. The winged, blue creature is a Striped Pincerbat, or a 'Kloflyve' to the local people. These beauties can be seen flapping their way through the upper canopy in the red rainforests they inhabit. They prey on smaller hexapods and insectoids, pinpointing them with precise echolocation whilst still on the wing.
The red one is a Quilled Grouch, or 'Mukke'. These temperamental beasts live in the lower canopy of the rainforests, using their strong pincers and nimble "hands" to dispatch prey. The males have bony "quills" on their backs, which they rattle in protracted displays over territory and mates.
Finally, the yellow Daggerclaw, known on the planet as a Djævel. These powerful beasts are the apex predators on the yellow savannahs, hunting even the largest and most dangerous herbivores. They often hunt in small packs, chasing down their prey before killing the victim with a number of blows from their sickle-clawed hands.
Rød Verden is, being in the Outer Ring, a poor world, and so illegal hunting and poaching of these, and other, magnificent animals unfortunately goes on unchecked. It is hoped that the funds necessary to set up protection for these increasingly rare creatures can be raised before they are made extinct."
From the journal of Samon Finn, notable Vabmojan Marine Xenobiologist, during his travels through the Outer Colonies.

Wait a minute, that Recon Plane actually does look kind of like a Striped Pincerbat!
