Description
i look around to seeall the beauty in the world
and wonder if there is a god
who created all of this magnificence.
then i realize the horrors
that surround it all,
and i put my faith to bed.

You're right! No one has "converted" me! I'm just thinking out loud.
It just seems that "Humans" and "Nature" have "Design" to it! I just
wonder how it all came to be. I really think that NO ONE KNOWS HOW!
Or why! Its fun to guess! But to say "all this" is an accident is like
putting a load of explosives in a junk yard, explode it, and expect
to find a pristine Cadillac XLR in the center of it! See what I mean?
I don't think the religious folk know anything more than I!
Worry not, I say unto you Mr Steve! I'm still on "your side"!

I like this! When things get me down I always try to remember how miraculous it is, that out of a jumble of elements, we as a species are "sentient". Things like school are really trivial compared to the awesomeness (in the big sense of the word) of life. As long as I am capable of feelings, I am determined to enjoy them.
And yes, there are a lot of terrible things in this world. The optimism to try and fix them is crucial to our survival as a race. And if some find that optimism in God, so be it. Savor the happy times! I hope this comes across as wisdom from experience, not empty fortune cookie sayings.
