Finally, this day has arrived! I found out my child’s gender…I’m going to have a beautiful baby girl! I’m so excited…I know that Gwen would have preferred a boy, but she’ll just have to get over it. I’ve dreamt of having a little girl ever since I was a little girl myself.
Now I have to think of a name. Ah, what’s in a name? A name is everything! How can I be expected to deal with this sort of responsibility? Her name will be her identity; it will be what makes her unique. I wouldn’t want her to just simply fall in line with everyone else. My daughter is not going to conform to the backward ways of our society…it seems like this country (and its government) is becoming more and more Christian and therefore more and more intolerant and hateful every day. Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? I wouldn’t be surprised if sometime in the near future Christianity became mandatory.
I can only hope that my little girl will not be subjected to the dirt and scum that most of the people in this society have become. But, I am not so naïve to think that I can shelter her from all of that…all I can do is give her everything I can. All I can do is instill her with true moral value, not the kind that people have just because a book scares them into having it.
If only there were a simple solution. Like, a vaccine that would protect her from evil and unhappiness.
