Description
based off this sketch 3.bp.blogspot.com/-nFdrtCPo11Y…this creature was reportedly sighted before the monster was shown in the lake. apparently had white shaggy fur, was seen far from the loch's edge and galopped.

The Lochness Monster took on many different shapes and sizes before one stuck with popular culture. Many early accounts describe a creature looking more like a blob, then a camel, and then a serpent.
Once the first accounts of plesiosaur-like creatures came in, suddenly every witness began describing the same thing. This has led many scientific minds to doubt the creature's existence, as the creature seems to magically change appearance based on the public image of the time.

Yeah I'm aware the Loch Ness Monster had different forms but I have yet to see this one.
Very interesting...I do find it unlikely that a plesiosaur would be in a lake though, especially
when there seems to be no other around.

Yeah, Loch Ness is not that big, and the loch is a popular tourist attraction with thousands of people viewing it at multiple angles. Not to mention that if the monster truly is a plesiosaur, that would mean it breathes air, so it should be rising up to the surface every few hours to avoid drowning. With this in mind, we should be seeing the Lochness Monster on a regular basis, and yet we find no compelling evidence of it.

That's another factor. I think people underestimate just how large plesiosaurs are.
If they were to still exist, they'd likely be in the ocean because it's deeper than a lake.
Yeah, some people say the Loch Ness monster might've evolved to be smaller but it's
unlikely. It's like people thinking that Megalodons still exist. It's not very likely, and the
possible reason why it went extinct in the first place might be because its large size required a lot
of calories to survive, and the were other predators that were competing with it.
Today it definitely wouldn't be able to survive either because something that
massive requires an equally large food source, and I doubt whales would be enough.
Also if there were Megalodons, we'd probably be seeing the whale population taking quite a hit,
and it's enough that humans are already taking a toll on that population. The Great White is
essentially a smaller, more efficient version of the Megalodon. There's really no need for them to be
any bigger.
True, so that pretty much rules out it being a plesiosaur because of the fact it
needs to rise to the surface to breathe. I wonder what it actually could be though and
why can't it be found? Probably something pretty ordinary that's being made into something
mysterious due to people feeding into the legends.
