Basically, the story there is in TUE, Danny gets killed by Dan, yes? But in my veiw of the world, I've always pictured Vlad fighting back, or at least attempting to... and actually being the cause of the explosion (self destructing the mansion) and Danny still dies. So yeh, TUE pic! Hurrah!

It actually does sound like a plausible thing since Vlad always did feel like someone who WANTED Danny to see him as a father, but because of his blind hatred of Jack and his obsession with Maddie, Danny just couldn't look past it, so he just became antagonistic. Angered by once again another person rejected him, Vlad became more and more angered and obsessed with both Danny and Maddie. This ultimately led to him trying to recreate his fantasy by creating an A.I. for Maddie and a clone of Danny, but ultimately his own awareness of reality and his own failures at recreating this fantasy led to him rejecting that very fantasy he set out to create.

Umm... It was a TUE thing. It's been a while so I don't remember my full thoughts behind it when I made it. But basically it was supposed to be in the bad future of The Ultimate Enemy and the bottom picture is a flashback to happier times. Or something. Like I said, it's been a while!

It would have been heartwarming if, at least in one timeline, Vlad got a shot at redemption. The fact is, though, that he was too full of hate and averice to have a Heel Face Turn. He was so focussed on his own goals that he was perfectly willing to kill a 12-year-old girl. He had walked many miles of bad road and, in the end, what happened at the climax of Phantom Planet was his just deserts.

You no Dan is Danny but the bad side of him, but still if Dan killed Danny he killed himself part of himself. Thats why Dan does not have a sad happy and fill for others because he killed that side of himself!

It's so tragic when I realize that the top picture was the future that was supposed to be... It's so depressing to think that everyone in the bottom pic were supposed to be dead, with Danny dying in mourning and Vlad having to live with the regret of all of his mistakes. It's amazing how deep and emotional a show aimed for 7-12 years olds can be. Excellent picture, I'm downloading it!

Aw, he's so cute as a baby. I wish Mr. Hartman would create an episode with Danny and Jazz as babies/toddlers, but the only episode showing the family's past life was in the episode "The Fright Before Christmas".

oh and the contrast is perfect. It completely corresponds with the words. Really well done, because Vlad's part, the color and darkening is so good. Ironically, considering the brightest thing in the picture usually catches my eye, the top half with Vlad and Danny's body was the first thing a looked at and studied because it was so captivating.

I like both pictures, but the first one (of Vlad and Danny) is the one that seizes my attention. This may be the most believable realistic picture of Vlad I've ever seen, and you've done a fantastic job translating his features (particularly the ponytail and the vivid blue eyes) into your own style. It's a picture that illustrates a specific, crucial moment in time that was never seen on the show but I have no doubt it might have happened that way and I will incorporate this image into my memory of TUE. I wonder if he is looking over his shoulder with fearful defiance at the newly-created Phantom?
The family portrait doesn't have the same storytelling quality as the first image. It's also a little more stylized and its vivid colors couldn't make for a more startling contrast with the muted blacks and grays of the first picture. It's sweet, but it's the picture of Vlad that blows me away.

I actually have to agree. I liked the way they look as stand-alone peices, but together Vlad definately is my favorite. Originally, there was supposed to be another image at the top, then vlad, then Fentons, but after Vlad I wasn't feeling up to anything that ambitious (plus I only had a day and the Fentons lineart).
I've always seen Vlad as tying his best to save Danny and stop Dan, despite his newly found full-human state. Vlad is a fruitloop, true, but I've always thought he would, after Nasty Burger explosion, truely try his best to ease Danny's pain and try to protect him at all costs.
