Well, It's late I'm tired, and I did this instead of fic-writing. Ph34r me putting off all obligations to spend an hour doing and redoing a set of Voilet eyes. While drawing this, I was slapped across the face with a bunny. Anyone ever write, read, or even hear of a story about Sam's mom? Well, if I ever follow up that bunny (it's a one-ahot, thank god) it will be one. Basically answers two questions I have about Sam: One, How the hell did she convince that woman to buy her a very goth dres for the dance, and two: Why the hell is her hair black?Honestly, genetically, assuming that Blonde and Red are her parent's natural colors, it's impossible, and Sam doesn't seem the type to dye or wear a wig. While her mom probably does dye, my answer is much more evil and fun!

Hair design is fantastic! I've seen a lot of different takes on her hair, and this is probably my favorite that I've seen. Well done!

You probably already had someone answer this for you, but I really don't have the time to read through all the comments to find out....
Anyway, the most plausible reason for Sam's hair color is actually genetic. You see, in the episode where Sam sneaks out and her grandmother catches her, the grandmother shows an old picture of herself, and as a teen she had black hair. Sam's black hair comes from her grandmother, and it would account for all the genetics, especially since we don't know which side the grandmother is from, or what Sam's grandfather's hair color was. Anyway, it makes sense, and seems to be the consensus in the dp community.
As for the dress.... dumb luck?
Anyway, great picture.... the eyes seem a little off, but since I have a horrible time with eyes, I can't really critique you. Good job.

I think the eyes are great they add a depth to sam that you rarely see in her pictures. That and they maker seem oh how should i put this "irreistable". and i say that as sincerly as i can great job.

I really like how you do the hair, what are some tools you use for it?

Mostly, I just used the brush in Phtoshop CS, at various size, colors, and opacities. There's probably a little bit of Dodge-work in there, too, but I'm not sure. ^_^

This is beautiful. I love how realistic her hair looks (you even have flyaways!), and I really don't think I've seen anyone who can make eyes look quite like that. I don't know what it is, but I think it's really neat.
Haha, and you know, it's funny, I've always had a kind of oneshot in my head about that debate too...I think she's the natural one though. I don't know that her dad would, but I think its completely possible that her Mom would dye her hair.

Actually, she does seem like the type to dye. At least to me... Her parents both seem too proper and old fashion for that, though.
Generally speaking, most Goths do dye their hair. And as long as it wasn't tested on animals or something, I don't see why Sam would have a problem with it...
And am I wrong assuming that your story involves the good ol' Milkman tale?

I don't know. Sam doesn't seem, to me, to change who she is or how she looks for the sake of an image. Although, there are so many people with black hair on this show, part of me wants to see her secretely be strawberry blonde.
As for your question about the milkman...

I'm not sure about that. I love Sam, I do, but she claims to be an individual while at the same time defining herself by a stereotype.
She's point blank admitted that she dislikes popular things not because of taste, but merely because they're popular. It annoys me when people not only give themselves a label, but then limit or describe themselves by the label that they're given.
I'm a vegetarian, but i know this doesn't make me unique since there are MANY other vegetarians out there. What makes me unique is the way that I feel free to be myself, not limiting myself with 'my utter distain of anything popular' or anything of that sort.
That along with her double standards (Her spying on Danny's date out of concern= Okay. Danny spying on her date out of concern= BADBADBAAAD!) are the only problem I have against Sam's character.
Overall, I think she's just trying way too hard to be different from girls like Paulina, and is in turn becoming a generic goth chick (and yes, there is such a thing.) Just because you like the gothic style does not mean you're limited to acting certain ways.
Some of my friends are labeled 'Goth,' because of their style and choice in music, even though one's favorite color is pink and the other collects teddy bears and other cute things she finds. They still like a lot of dark and morbid stuff, they just don't close themselves off to just that.
Sorry for the rant. This is just something that's been bothering me.

Actually, I've wondered the same thing.
To tell the truth, I could so see her dying her hair black in rebeion to her parents, but I could also see a visa versa. *shrug* Either way, someone's not natural there.
I'm guessing the dress had to be a compramise. LOL.

Yes, but Black hair doesn't get passed through Blonde or Red. Black is a dominant gene, and so whereever the gene for Black is is black. Red and Blonde are resessive. They won't show up unless the gene is pure of all dominant genes. So, for her parents to have naturally red and blonde, they can't have any black to pass on.
In other words, you can get red out of black (Jazz, fenton family)
but you can't get black out of Red or Blonde.

Usually I'm not a big fan of Sam, but this was beautifully done. May I just say something, though? Her lips don't look as purpley as they prolly should. But, other than that, it looks absolutely fantastic.

nicely done i have to say. only one thing u need to control the sharpness/blurness edges.. i mean look at hair it is rendered well, but the hair in whole looks like if it has been just pasted and all its edges are sharp.
