Description
although i think this piece is quite self explanatory, i'll describe it anyway. it's supposed to resemble that statue of saddam hussein that we tore down to symbolize the fall of saddam's regime (if you don't know what i'm talking about, see these: [link] , [link] ). in it's place, i drew bush. the flag is the iraqi flag with 'better, more patriotic' colors. and the rest...well, it's obviously the ruins of a civilization that we eagerly and utterly destroyed.RIP to the thousands of innocent iraqis who died and are still dying for no reason at all.
I'm sorry.

This is an excellent piece. Very bold of you by the way. I do agree that there is a hint of Hitler there also, but regardless still great work.
Something to think about: Do you think that a 10 year old child standing on a rooftop throwing grenades at our troops is innocent? How about rolling burning tires down the street to distract them so the Iraqi troops can blow their brains out?
Its not ALL our fault. Thats why its a war.

thanks for stopping by - i appreciate it.
and, while i see and understand your concern for what is happening in iraq, i still disagree with you. just think about it. imagine....i'm not sure how old you are now, but imagine back to the year you were ten years old. now, imagine that russian forces have invaded and completely decimated america, imprisoning your parents and planning invasion of your hometown. would you just sit back and let them take over? you can't blame most (keyword MOST) of the resistance in iraq for their actions - they're just trying to protect what is rightfully theirs. the portion of iraqis that you can put blame on are either saddam supporters or members of al qaeda, but that doesnt mean that u.s. troops should kill, capture, imprison, or threaten the citizens of iraq merely because they're iraqis. ya know?
and besides, what makes an iraqi soldier child pure evil, while the soldier children fighting civil wars in africa are not even spoken about? the current administration has done nothing to help save the millions of africans dying from war, famine, and disease. is that ok?
sorry if that comes off as harsh...it's not meant to seem that way, but a little ol' fashioned debate can be mistaken for hostility quite easily. i'd love to hear your opinion on things. also, thanks again for stopping by. much love.

No offense taken by what you said, an opinion is merely that.
For the record I am almost 22...lost someone in the war and just had my best friend return from war. The only real reason I have such a strong opinion is not because of what I hear on the news but from first hand accounts of people who have actually been there and pictures I have seen. Pictures you will never ever see on TV.
"u.s. troops should kill, capture, imprison, or threaten the citizens of iraq merely because they're iraqis. ya know?". I do know, BUT if someone is firing at you (regardless of their age, gender, status in society etc), human nature tells you to fire back. If a 10 year old child is throwing hand grenades at me, i'm damn well gonna kill them. Of course a child isn't pure evil, they really don't even know what they are doing. Only doing what they are told.

yeah, i've got friends and family in iraq too. luckily, they've all come back or are still alive. one of them has a cell phone camera that he takes pictures with, and he sends them back to us...so i know what you're talking about. and while i understand why you might shoot at a child who's lobbing grenades at you, my point is that we shouldn't let the situation get anywhere near that level. i mean...think about it. the reason we invaded iraq was, officially, to liberate the iraqis from the rule of saddam. but, under that pretext, does it make sense to bust into every house in iraqi major cities, guns drawn, terrorizing every innocent civilian in sight? what about dropping bombs wherever we feel like it, regardless of how many civilians are nearby? no. it's extremely narrowminded and discriminatory for our military to act that way, and that's all i'm getting at. and, while i don't think we had any legitimate reason to invade iraq, i AM somewhat glad that saddam is out of power. i'm just concerned about the way we invaded, and the way we're running things over there. and i'd rather be wrongfully alarmed than wrongfully ignorant.

One tyrant toppled only to replace him with another. This Sunday's election in Iraq should be interesting but I wonder if it will be the beginning of true Iraqi sovereignty, or just another media event staged for the benefit of those of us in the West.

what i hate most about the iraq situation is that most americans hate them for trying to protect their country from invasion. they fail to think 'hey, if some foreign soldiers came into my town with guns, tanks, bombs, and a lust for death, would i fight back?' i think we all know the answer.

have you ever noticed that us being over in Iraq is ALOT like when Britain was in control of the US and the American Revolution was going on? and us americans are like "yaaah we kicked their butts they diserved it those assholes fer being in our country and trying to be in control" and yet now look at us, we're a powerful country bulling a little country, just like how it was with britain vs the US. But no one seems to want to relate the two because they are considered "terrorists" or whateverthefuck.
I hate it

haha...terrorism. what a funny word, since it's the same thing as revolution. the only things that sepreates the two are success and your perspective. the boston tea party was an act of terrorism, but since our founding fathers pulled it off, we see it as a revolutionary event. we see it as patriotism at its finest. so wouldn't what the iraqi people be doing now also be considered as revolutionary? i think they're making better patriots than we are by far.

In some ways, i want to get out of this country, but, as my dad says it, "As long as i'm here, im a sore splinter in the government's ass." and i plan on continuing on being that by going to marches, etc. By being a REAL patriot and trying to get our troops home and fix up the economy and all the other stuff the bush agenda fucked up the ass due to his oil-drinking, money eating self.

by the way, there's a documentary out calles control room. you should check that out. it kind of goes into detail of how the statue was torn down (they say that the ppl who were celebrating were not iraqis...the flag that was hoisted after the statue was pulled down was that of pre 1990 iraq...and it mentioned that it was the same group of 20-25 year old males throughout the whole process...)anyways, its a good movie
