I watched the fish for a bit to see if he swam in a pattern. Watching an animals behavious really helps to get the shot you want. I kept really still, lens flush with the glass, lots of patience and this was my result.

Thanks for the advice. I think that's why I struggle with aquariums, usually the people behind you are trying to move you along all the time. Never get a chance to to stay still long enough

That's why I stand back, let them all look and go back when they have passed (if you're not pressed for time) I usually allow all day for each photo shoot incase I encounter situations like this

The glass was very thick and I didn't think the shot would come out but it came out so well that I now want to try a photo shoot at an aquarium. This was quite a big tank too and loads of fish swimming about so it was difficult to catch one fish on it's own but I managed with a little patience

Were you inside the tank with a water resistant camera, or just outside?

I took it through very thick glass. I don't have a water resistant case for my camera, not yet anyway
