This is some fantastic work, and in an effort to improve I have a question if you don't mind...I was wondering how much 'line art' you do for something like this. Presumably there is a sketch under there somewhere?

I do a rough on paper and then I scan it in a go wild. I don't do as much line art but yeah the intial picture is in pencil.

Yeah for some reason I have been wanting to see a film remake of The Wizard of Oz directed by Peter Jackson. I've been wanting to do my own interpretation of the characters for a little while now but haven't dedicated the time to do so. Maybe I will take a stab at it as well. Hope to see yours soon!

Excellent use of soft, smokey colours here.
The claw swipe across the bottom of the image also adds a lot of energy. It shows motion, where wolvy could have been quite static.

Thanks for the critique dude! I definitely put some thought into the colors and movement of this piece. I wanted to create kinda like an epic slow motion effect. Hopefully it came through.

indeed it did. Smokey effect is good at calming and softening the piece, and balancing the colours has payed off, the gold and blue work excellently and the beast's blue is a good anchor for the centre of the piece.

thanks dude. I don't really realize all those things when I'm doing it. It's kinda like I just base everything on a feeling and run with that feeling but it's dope to here what you have to say cuz it makes a lot of sense. I'll take that to account on my next piece! Wow!

lol, not at all. I know what you mean. It's easy to sit back and analyse a piece, but most artists do it all naturally, because the best compositions and devices just LOOK better
