Description And here is my contribution for boxing day. A brand new OC named Macy Rock that will definitely get a formal bio sooner or later. I was originally thinking for boxing day of havinga a boxing pic of my new Club Foxy OC vs another OC but I've thought of another idea. I will be posting the fight on patreon weekly for my patreons.

Lovely picture, i really like the visual style!Β Β

But on the other hand, it needed a bit more rendering time to work some of the grainyness out, how many samples and rendertime do you give it?

Well, that's another one for the "I never thought that would happen"-list, i inspired somebody's style...Β Β

To get back to the grainy-issue: "Done" is relative, you can set how much time DAZStudio takes for rendering, it's under Render settings>Progressive rendering, the three important values are:Β Β  (Sit back, this will be a long one...Β  )

Max samples: How many times maximum the program "goes over" the image to refine it, default is 5000 times
Max time (In seconds): Pretty simple, how much time it can take for rendering, default is 7200 or 2 hours
Rendering converged ratio: A basic quality-setting, defaults to 95%
If the program hits any of those three limits it's "Done", optimally you want it to hit the "Rendering converged ratio"-limit rather than the others (Don't ever set that to 100% BTW, technically a picture is never 100% finished rendering, but at 95% there are hardly any visible imperfections left)

How much time a picture takes to render depends on a whole number of factors, but two things in particular seem to be working against you here:
- The scene is in an enclosed space, in enclosed space lightbeams reflect off a lot of surfaces and each reflection takes extra calculating-work (I do most of the "Girl posing"-pictures on a background that's just one wall and a floor, so beams reflect once or twice then sail off into the wide blue yonderΒ  )
- A lot of the scene is low-light, darker places take more work to render than light ones, contrary to 3Delight (Which slows down with more light-sources), Iray gets faster if there is more light in the scene.Β Β  (The "Boxing stadium"-pictures i do have a whole bunch of lights in a square above the ring)

Well, that was a lot of rambling, i'm not saying that you should do everything the same way i do it, but start by giving renders a bit more time in the settings, and if you really enjoy this stuff, consider getting a good nVidia-based video card, that should speed up rendering immensely (and by extension make the pictures better in less time)Β Β

If you need any advice, let me know, just be prepared for a long answer...Β Β

Looks like one of the "Girls" is the base figure. "The Girl 6"?

By the way, did you stop the render process, or is this the result after rendering had finished?

deadpoolthesecond In reply to suzukishinji [2016-12-27 09:53:09 +0000 UTC]

Its a The Girl 7 model with the skin tone changed

and that's the result after I finished the render.

It's quite grainy. Perhaps. Perhaps more light would solve the problem.
