it is possible my friend,
if we're talking about a kinetic projectile that is, 
the bullets would be something like an APHE or HEAT, it explode after penetrating the armor, not to mention 3 shell at once, plus, possibly a more potent shell type than the regular HEAT shell we know since it's sci fi, also we can't rule out the size of shell calibre used,  
it possible, it can go boom.

but as stated by the author, it is a beam, so yeah it explode

Well those aren't bullets XD there high powered ..high energy beams that can melt through metals tougher than titanium alloy with little trouble XD 

Besides there are bullets that can take out tanks but they usually are ANTI TANK rounds ..hence the name ANTI TANK
