Inside the FireSome more serious work for April I've been pretty relaxed with my art so I decided I'd go all out on this one used a refference for the head, this guy is suppose to have more curly puffy fur so keep that in mind if your going to give a art review thanks. This shows potential! First off you understand lighting and shadow. Now lets focus on value. Bear in mind where the light hits (brightest shade) and where it doesn't (shadow) after building it up you can eventually draw or painting without lines. You know the form of a wolf. Now let's bring it out even more! Well done!
As for fire, I have no tricks here. Fire is tough to depict. It glows, it sparks, it flickers, it's living in a sense. My advice is to look at a fire and try to depict what you see for practice. I do not depict fire much at all but for you this would be a good challenge too!

Yes it is, I plan to look at some reference of fire for my next painting. That's a good suggestion and
challenge I could add it onto my challenge list for 2017.

Good effort on this artwork! But for improvement, I suggest first making the fire a bit more clearer and surround around the wolf. I can't tell whether its running or jumping due to the blurriness of the background. For more detail in fire, start looking into real photos of fire, such as the fiery blaze or the flickering sparks it emits. The lines and coloring are on point, but shading could use a little more work. I feel as though the shading seems a bit ''scribbly'' and doesn't match it with the lighting of the fire, except for its forehead, cheeks, and ears. Other than that, those are the two things to make your artwork more better. You can also look in to realistic wolf picturea. Don't worry, this wolf looks perfectly fine, and I know you said the reference has curly and puffy fur due to the fandom, but try making the fur more rogue and less line squiggles.

Why thank you! The fire is suppose to be in the background it's suppse to do more of a flee type situation in this. But those are some good idea's to note. I shall keep that in mind when I try to do that next time. Yes I tend to be a bit scribbly with my shading to be honest, thought I was trying for this one so I guess I didn't really succeed in what I wanted to protray in that instant but I guess it did work for the face then which is good since this was a pratice photo. Thank you so much for the review! I'm not quite sure what you mean by rogue thought do you mean more like a curl or wave? More wild looking or more refined in some way?

Mhm, I was suggesting more wild looking like the realistic wolf. But I read in your description, the fur was suppose to be curly.
