The feathers are bent in a kinda awkward way, yes, but considering the context of the picture I found it to be very fitting.
Don't know if the other mods on P+ will take it like that though...

I didn't plan on submitting it to P+, I don't think it's worthy, just a small piece I did in between. I hope my next one will be once it's revealed. I think I spent about 45 hours on it. Coming from me though it doesn't mean that it'll be super mega awesome and detailed but rather than I'm very very slow106 more pv to go

It comes in time... With enough practice you'll know how to achieve certain looks and feels and you start speeding up your process and optimising your workflow. Maximum efficiency/effectiveness. 
Especially when you start doing it professionally it's important to have a big output of art in a relatively short amount of time. Then you suddenly start making lots and lots of progress. I know people who have been in the professional art industry for about +10 years and even those people still make a lot of progress over the course of mere months. One of them even shuns the stuff he did back in February (=theartrix ).

The problem is, professionally I've never been and I probably never will be anywhere near art (I'm from the sciency/mechanical/technical department) and the pic from tomorrow or the day after tomorrow will probably be the last big picture for a while now. I'll try to keep popping out smaller pics like this Derpy pic here (smaller resolutions are a lot easier for me). Plus I have not much inspiration for the next two weeks with no ponies °_°
I only have an idea about a Derpy origin story (sounds kinda more dramatic than it is)

I do a lot of things too, but that doesn't mean you can't be good at them.
I'm currently a sound engineer/designer and music producer for several animation projects, I do a lot of video editing, I play 3 instruments in an orchestra, I sometimes do product or packaging design (sold a bottle label to Heineken when I was 15) and I occasionally do some drawing, doodling and illustrating.
My problem, and I think it's still yours too, is that with most of those things I'm only a LITTLE bit good. I want to excell at each of those, but I simply don't have the time to work on EVERYTHING! 
Anyway, if you're doing a lot of things at once things just take a little longer to get a hang of. But that shouldn't be a reason to give up. Aim high. If you don't believe in yourself, nobody will. Don't just 'settle' for things, always try to reach the best you possibly can. Else you might end up regretting that later on, and that's one of the worst feelings ever. And it's a feeling that's very hard to get rid of.

Yes, it's exactly my problem. I'm usually a little above avarage when I start but then I kinda get stuck. I'm not planning on giving up or settling for less, I just think that I won't have the time to work on bigger pictures I have troubles having an uncompleted piece for too long (not very good for actual work XD)
