Ruby, finishing Shaft Primary magic school at the age of 9, was called a child prodigy. She entered Intermediate magic academy at 11. She joined the Hexe Kanonier Korps when she turned 16. Though a gifted mage, she is laid back. A little too laid back for her own good, most people think. Because of this, she has been marked "unreliable" by her superiors, closing the opportunity to land herself into a higher rank. Ruby doesn't really care though.

Hexe Kanonier Korps (Witch Gunner Corps):
It is the special forces of Shaft, the Magi City where Ruby lives. It is headed by the city Elders. These elders give orders to Archmagi, who in turn manage smaller units of the Corps. The Hexe Kanonier Korps usually take assignments of magical nature, locally and externally.

Tektite armaments and Rune Clips/Magazines:
Each member of the Hexe Kanonier Korps is issued with a rune clip/magazine and a custom firearm of their choice. Though this is usually dictated by their role in their unit. These firearms are fitted with Tektite, a special mineral that can only be found beneath the lost ruins of Shaft. Magic resistant in nature, Tektite protects the firearm from internal damage, at the cost of lessend firepower. These firearms are loaded via rune clips. These clips are charged with magic by the user. The magical energies inside the clips are converted into a corporeal substance that can be loaded and shot using a Tektite firearm. The effects of the "magic bullets" may vary depending on the charge loaded by the user.
