first I took some shots of hands in a studio (b&w film), then cut the print to pieces and assembled this collage. then fotographed the collage with the screws and the tape on top of it... no photoshop, all darkroom work. some prints were double exposed with some text on top of the hands...Related content

This is really great. Its just a bit different to most of the stuff on here. Nice to see someone working in traditional methods as well rather then all on photoshop.

I like working with different medias, I want to try to print on fabric by applying photo emmulsion on it (its called liquid light). I already have all the materials, I just dont have time to do darkroom work because of my finals comming up this week. I want to do something simmilar to this series but printed on different materials... but on the other hand what I really like about this is that the final result IS a conventional photograph, printed on paper. I didnt want the final result to be a mixed media piece, but a photograph made of different things.
I was a little disapointed with the feedback I got when I presented this in class an yaer ago, many people didn't really "get it". I'm thinking of revisiting this theme for a final project I have this semester... but I already started working on a narrative using the pictures of the school girl that are also posted here on my gallery

that's pretty amazing! i like how eclectic and resourceful this piece is. also, i like how the slices seems to run along the hand at certain angles that well complement the structure of the hand itself. might be a cheesy analogy, but it kinda reminds me of edward scissorhands or freddy krueger. in particular, i like how the end result is not simply a photograph of a collage, but is instead a combination of three-and two-dimensional subjects. the three-dimensional objects make the image feel as if it's a sort of work in progress, like it's an ongoing assimilation. i also like how it's not just the hand that's cut up: the edges of the paper are clearly seen to be sliced and replaced as well, almost implying that the composite organ is not just the hand itself, but very much includes its environment as well. makes me think of frankenstein. really, to me this is a pivotal piece toward a new way of seeing art in general, and especially photography. more than worthy of a favorite!

yeah, liquid light is supposed to be really sweet. my friend, latentpattern, has done some of it, and we're supposed to do some stuff in the future with it. we were gonna try it one time, but it proved to be a little more than we were quite prepared for. at the time, we were going to do some bichromate stuff also, with different layers of colors, but we're still holding off to fully attempt that kind of thing also. what school do you go to? i suppose i'd like to go somewhere and study photography, but i just don't like the idea of 'assignments.' if i were to go anywhere it would most definitely be somewhere they don't have any problem with students assigning themselves projects and such. anyway, i'd like to here about where you go and what you think of it, if you're interested in telling.

the cross symbol was unintentional, but I think it works fine with your interpretation... there is not a single way of looking at this picture, depending on each person background's they will bring different ideas to it.
since this was an arranged piece, everything should be intentional, but many times I do things "intuitively", it looks right and then I do it... without giving much "rational" thought to it... and that gets me into trouble when I have to do a critique of my photos... "it looks right" is never good enough of an explanation heheheh

my own art is created mostly with that same intuitive process, i rarely have much idea about how my outcome will look
