Description "I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell" Unwell - Matchbox 20 www.youtube.com/watch?v=StFfXP…
Came to mind as I was drawing.

G1 is such a silly cartoon, so fun. Silly plot lines and hilarious animation errors.
THEN THIS EPISODE PUNCHED ME STRAIGHT IN THE FUCKING FEELS!
SCREW YOU WEBWORLD GETTING ME SO WORKED UP FOR GALVATRON!

Yeah, that episode was kinda sad. I mean Galvatron begging terrified for his life, dang.
And yeah he actually says that in the episode (Bar the "No one does" bit, that's just a title)

Yeah, don't. Just stick to the one you've read. It all goes to shit after that and I don't mean it in the fun "oh look at these crazy, dangerous adventures" way either.

I like moment in the episode when optimus comes back to life for the first time. Galvatron got shot and of course Cyclonus had his arm around him and pull him away to safety. I love it!

Yes! That was wonderful! There was a scene of which I can't remember the episode, but doesn't Cyclonus literally dropkick Galvatron to push him out the way of a rocket? hilarious and goofily over-the-top, guess he was just too eager to stop Galvatron from getting hurt haha!

Though gosh, Webworld, When Galvatron was about to suffer a lobotomy he calls out for Cyclonus and poor ol' Cyc looks like he's gonna cry It hurts every dang time!

I ship them in pretty much any timeline, and even ones where there's only one or none! I make versions of them for every timeline possible hahaha!

I know! My heart melted for him. He was begging for help but Cyclonus couldn't do anything! I like as soon as he is freed he rushed over fast to save his mate

DeceptiSpoon In reply to Omega-Knight01 [2018-08-17 17:57:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes! I can only imagine how heartbroken they both were after that! Cyclonus only wanted to help him, but was then made to watch him suffer and Galvatron has so much trust in Cyclonus but then... that happens.
Poor guys.
They need to hug it out hardcore!

Omega-Knight01 In reply to DeceptiSpoon [2018-08-17 18:05:22 +0000 UTC]

I think Galvatron would not speak to him for a long time, like you said the one he trusted the most broke his trust. He be angry and hurt from it. Cyclonus would probably keep doing mission after mission to gain back his favor, not caring he gets hurt himself or exhausted from all the work.

Galvatron would end up worrying about him

DeceptiSpoon In reply to Omega-Knight01 [2018-08-17 18:08:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it'd be a real bump in their relationship.
It's something significant enough I've been meaning to get around to drawing something about/for it and writing a bit but yeah he so would.
I could also see Cyclonus sinking into a bit of a depression, horrified that he did that to him.

Couldn't help but think Scourge would have to step in and "You two are a pair of absolute messes" and just try and nudge them together again.

Omega-Knight01 In reply to DeceptiSpoon [2018-08-17 18:16:53 +0000 UTC]

Awww I love that idea

Maybe scourge has to warn Galvatron that Cyclonus is working himself to death to try and make him forgive him

DeceptiSpoon In reply to Omega-Knight01 [2018-08-17 18:24:30 +0000 UTC]

These poor goobs, get them a hug stat!

He does, just sits them both down like "Now you listen here you little shits, you're not happy without each other! So we are going to sit here and work this out OR SO HELP ME PRIMUS"
They'd both be too surprised by the outburst to fight back.

They need a good hug after web world. I actually think Galvatron would cry against Cyclonus. After all they nearly destroyed his mind. It's the closest to death he ever faced! He never admit it to anyone else but he was scared. Maybe he breaks down slightly

Yeah, the story with Chaos had some neat implications (of which I hope to explore in the Extriverse when I get to writing that story) and Sandstorms was also interesting even if the chopping of the episode ended up kinda... ruining it.

This is easily my favorite episode from season 3 G1. It reminded me a lot of when a person has to care for their aging and senile parent, and the tough decisions they have to make. Cyclonus and Galvatron have a surprisingly complicated relationship considering they were cartoon villains in the 80s. BTW, I like your artwork. Very emotional

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeceptiSpoon In reply to MadnessJones [2016-12-05 08:53:58 +0000 UTC]

'Tis my top episode too, they all seemed goofy and silly then this one popped up out of nowhere.
That's a interesting connection to make, and I see where it comes from though the way the Torkuli spoke about Galvatrons "problem" made me think that it was the closest a 80's cartoon show for kids would ever get to saying "This guy has legitimate brain damage". Seeing as they did directly say a part his processor was damaged (and a processor could be taken as a TF-brain depending on how you view it.).
That really does make the two's interactions much more interesting, especially how in a later episode Cyclonus refers to psychology, it makes me wonder if he had been learning about it to better handle Galvatron, not to mention Galvatron showed considerably more care towards Cyclonus than any of the other Decepticons by actively looking horrified/upset when he was captured and then also demanding he be fixed while also completely forgiving him for getting possessed and leading him into a trap (something I think he'd kill any other Decepticon for doing even though they were not in control of themselves) and especially with this episode and how both called out for each other near the end, it always made me feel that Galvatron might actually be pretty scared more times than he shows and is aware to some degree of his own problems and how others view him (A line he makes in another episode leads me to believe he has really bad self-confidence/self-image issues too), also bringing him to the realization that Cyclonus is the only one who still sticks by him 100% even with his faults.
Tbh, it made Galvatron a far more interesting character than Megatron, the scenes in this episode alone (like the whole building a gun bit) added many more layers to him than an entire season did for Megatron.

Thank you very much! I really wanted to portray a array of emotions here, very glad to hear I succeeded.

A lot of good points there. In the image, is that orange stuff coming out of his head supposed to be his energon?

DeceptiSpoon In reply to MadnessJones [2016-12-06 15:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Nope, it's meant to be the plasma that he soaked in causing his problems.

yus!   This ep ruled!  Len Wein (writes for comic books) and Diane Duane (many writing credits including EXCELLENT Star Trek novels particularly of the The Next Generation variety) are awesome for making this episode happen.

DeceptiSpoon In reply to ShebaKoby [2016-11-16 08:06:09 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, it was an amazing episode.

I always feel sad that it seems like a majority of the fandom seems to forget this episode and it's interesting reveals about Galvatron.
Usually in favour of ditching it's implications for a "lololol Galvatron so crazy and dumb" or shoehorning him into one of either two roles being "The abusive partner X has to save Y from because that's all he does" or "The totally-irredeemable villain the story's heroes don't have to feel guilty for beating the shit out of because he's 'totally evulz guyz'" and slapping his personality down in favour of a stiff lame 2D characterization of him.
Despite this episode and it's brilliant writing, it's my favourite and heavily influences how I write/depict Galvatron.

ShebaKoby In reply to DeceptiSpoon [2016-11-16 20:59:06 +0000 UTC]

yup!  All well said!

Also it showed just how deeply Cyclonus cares about Galvatron.  Also it pokes fun at what were at the time up-and-coming modern psychiatric treatments (which Scourge correctly pointed out were stupid).

Sweeps don't get a lot of respect, even though they end up being right very often!  Take Starscream's Ghost for instance.  The Sweeps didn't want to go into the Crypt after Octane, and they had GOOD reason not to!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeceptiSpoon In reply to ShebaKoby [2016-11-16 21:04:29 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I loved their relationship shown in the episode.
Which is something I notice many people also like to gloss over (apparently people think Cyclonus was doubting Galvatron and his leadership at the end of the episode?? Um.. wow, not like he was happy or anything no he was totally doubting him and not smiling over his continued safety)

Indeed. I like thinking as hunters and (I think) pack creatures they're probably a bit more sensitive to things that other mech's aren't. They know, even if they end up being fodder, they know.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShebaKoby In reply to DeceptiSpoon [2016-11-16 21:28:33 +0000 UTC]

I think the scene that best illustrates the Sweeps' increased sensitivity to things other mechs would not be bothered by is the scene in Five Faces of Darkness part 3, where Galvatron's plasma cannon blast disrupts a storm on Jupiter, causing it to explode with light and sound.  At least two Sweeps express extreme discomfort at the effects.  "This is blowing out my audio sensors!"  "It's torture!"  Galvatron isn't affected meaning he most likely was not granted the enhanced senses of the Sweeps, nor apparently was Cyclonus.

The Sweeps know, oh yes, because they're often the first to retreat.  Better to be called a coward and live to fight another day, than expend one's chassis in a hopelessly lost cause.

I also think of the Sweeps as Pack hunters, and my fanfics reflect this (such as Prequel to Hunter in the Night).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DeceptiSpoon In reply to ShebaKoby [2016-11-16 21:33:04 +0000 UTC]

I thought Galvatron could hear it as well, though it has been a while since I watched that episode so I may be wrong.

Indeed, the Sweeps seem to have a fairly high casualty rate anyway, don't want to tempt fate.

Yeah, it just makes sense.
I don't even know why, just when I watched them my thoughts were immediately "They have pack-like social structures and hunt in groups etc etc" great to see another with similar thoughts.
Heck I love imagining their hands to be very chunky and paw-like so they can easily drop on all fours.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShebaKoby In reply to DeceptiSpoon [2016-11-16 21:51:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh he could hear *some* of it, but not the higher frequencies that the Sweeps were hearing it at as well.  It's like blowing a regular whistle and a dog whistle at the same time.  A human can only hear the first, while the dog can hear both.  And higher frequency sounds can annoy animals such as dogs and cats and deer.  Some cars come with "deer whistles" which cannot be heard by humans but which scare deer to prevent them from being hit by cars.

Yeah Scourge's box tech specs describe the Sweeps as a "wolf pack of Tracker-Terminators".

DeceptiSpoon In reply to ShebaKoby [2016-11-16 21:53:46 +0000 UTC]

Aaaah yeah that makes more sense.

Ah, I don't have any toys or know of box tech specs and stuff, 'twas just what I felt as I watched.
Good to know that though.
