Description
This is the last drawing i did for fun in 2009. Haven't done a proper Batman drawing in ages so i thought i'd give it another go. Batman sketches are always fun as you get to play around with design and composition more than most characters. For a change, i thought i'd try my hand at the current costume, the Frank Quitely-designed one for the Dick Grayson character.
As i was drawing it i thought it might be neat to just colour it in flat grey-tones, rather than the usual greywash or flat colour.
Quite happy with how it turned out.
Happy New Year by the way.

I'm not really sure man, i'd say 90-120 mins? I'm terrible; i never time myself. I really should.

thanks that info helps. there is some artist that I have talked to and they work around 30-45min, and there is some character designers that work around 4-8 hours, and then comic artists around 8-10hours, so I'm just trying to find where I stand, then getting better then....working at that pace. right now I'm at 2-4 hour for a character design.
thank you for your time. If you have any extra time take a look at my work then give me a strong critique, I only want to get better so I can start working.

Thanks very much! Batman is a great character to draw if you want to play around with composition.

Really dig this. Do you use your own fingerprints, or did you make a brush? I alternate between both to throw people off.

Ah, thanks a lot man.
It's all my actual fingerprints. I do try and use different parts of each finger, sometimes my index finger, that's kinda shaped oddly from all my years at drawing!
I'm not great with computers. I wouldn't know where to start to make my own brush. I prefer it all to be hand-done anyway. I seem to have become a bit of a purist.
