I love drawing this guy.

Crossbones always wondered why nobody liked him but
when you dress up like a bottle of poison you can't
expect to be the life of the party.

My favourite comic book character! I am glad someone like you has the opportunity to draw him and do it so well. I can't wait to see your drawings of him in the next Thunderbolts issue.

Between him, Juggernaut and Man-Thing, I imagine you having a ball doing these!

Oh, absolutely man. Those 3 are the most fun to draw by far, and there's lots of 'em. I was kinda intimidated when it came to Juggernaut; I've never drawn someone SO big before, but I'm really enjoying him too. Biggest surprise. Man-Thing is great cuz i can just mess around with mark-making.

I would imagine Juggernaut would be easy, and then I remember, you have to keep scale in mind. While his costume is fairly simple, the size of him is something you have to get right on EVERY page. So, consider that a lesson learned by a writer!

Glad i could educate

Yeah, keeping the size consistent was really hard, especially in comparison to all the other characters.

There was a line in Jeff's script that said 'Jugg nods in a direction, though you can't really draw him nodding in that helmet, so he just thumbs in the direction'. You can tell Jeff is considering how it's gonna be drawn, which helps SO much. It's such a pleasure to work with a writer who thinks visually. Michael Alan Nelson on 28 Days Later was the same.

I try to do that myself. One of these days, we'll actually have to work together to find out

But yeah, it's tough because you start thinking one way, and then you realize, "Oh shit! Someone actually has to draw this!" Jeff is a great artist in his own right, so he would think visually. I try to do some bare bones layouts when I write so I can give the artist every opportunity to do what I ask, but also to draw what he/she sees. Let the artist draw, you know?
