also i talked with him about it and his leg is only part clockwork, its mainly supported by a air pressure ressistance to give more balance when he walks.
ever see treasure planet, you know long john silver's leg, it works like that only on a more narrower and smaller scale

His bio-mechanical hoof hoof is driven though clockwork mechanics, though I don't know if they're connected to nerves or muscles.
I tried to make it steampunk, but that requires a boiler and being that close to his body, it didn't seem like a good idea. :S
