Wilson Kane wins a fortune and his future bride at a game of dice from the former pirate Balthasar. When he decides to go and get the girl, the pirate way, by kidnapping her, not only he finds out that she is more than a pirate could ever want from a wife... but that she has 4 identical sisters as well. This discovery hits him when his men, who were supposed to help him out, each kidnaps a different girl... and none of them gets the right one! But Wilson Kane wants the girl he had met and no one else! Luckily for him it will be the girl herself to solve his problem and put an end to his dilemma... a solution that will eventually fling her into a world of adventures on the Mediterranean sea.

4th panel should be "I'd be open to that" not "opened"

Oh, are these going into the correct order on the website? I'd love to read through these again when they're new and in context!

"I would be" is future tense, mostly talking about possibilities or predicting your own future behavior. I'm not sure if it would be perfect or continuous, I really should learn more about how English works before I attempt learning another foreign language. Since we barely have verb conjugations I didn't understand what the teacher was talking about the first 2 times I took Spanish 1. Mostly the way English works is what "sounds right" without worrying too hard about rules. I suppose that's why slang and dropped words are so common.

Oh, crap, I think it's conditional present.Β
I mean both forms are correct but they mean different things.
I would be open is conditional present, active and the other one is passive, which means the first one is the idiomatic form meaning what I mean to say, the second one is actually meaning that he would be opened as in like a door or surgically speaking... cut open hahaha.

So I just had Kane say that he would be slaughtered XDDD

Also in this particular page you are seeing Italians don't you know what Italians look like in the Southern regions? - because Arabians would not drink and gamble and everybody knows that!!!

As you go along the story you'll see bad Spaniards, bad French people, very very bad Italians, bad Swedish people, bad British people, some crazy Greeks, one and only one bad Egyptian (compared to the dozens of other bad people in the story).

They are not Arabians though, why did you think that? If you read along you will see - except for Cat is Egyptian and Is EVERYBODY's favorite character XD - they are all from different Countries from the Mediterranean sea: Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Albania and so on...
But being on the sea and being sailors they come in contact with different cultures too, hence the clothing belonging to the best sailors in the world: the Algerians.

Have you read further along the story? These are good guys! People love them! They are nice and funny and respect people... if anything I am trying to raise awareness and respect for other cultures and eliminate fear for the different...

In the XVII century the Mediterranean sea was virtually a Continent of its own, separated from the land and with a mixture of languages.
The most famous pirates back in those days were the Algerian pirates but when you go and look into them even Kayereddin the red beard was Originally from another nation.

There was a mixture of cultures and it enriched the people who would commerce and trade and created tolerance amongst the sailors and open minded behavior... where people would not judge others by their clothing or commit someone at first glance.

In short back then is not today where everybody is highly prejudist because we live in a society of images. and jumps to conclusion and condemns you on the spot instead giving a second glance.

I have Arabian relatives and friends too, I am Mediterranean and travelled around the Region a lot.
I have a degree in History that focuses on the communications and trades around the Mediterranean sea.
If anything I am being historically accurate in favor of this wonderful commistion of cultures.

It's not a problem, dear, I hope you can enjoy the rest of the comic still.

There are bad people and good people in the story and they are from all over the World really - actually my point in the story is to show that one should not judge a person by where they come from or what they look like.

I wanted to make sure people understand that the bad people in the story are scared of what's different and it is ignorance that causes them to behave badly but if they gave room to tolerance their lives would be so much richer instead.
