Description
My opening artwork for 2013, the great swashbuckler heroine character ‘Piracat’ from City of Heroes. As every painting I created, I always looking for references before sketching or even thinking of overall layouts. So I had opened ‘Mbah Google’ (In Indonesian, Mbah means Grandpa/Grandma) and search the words ‘pirate woman’. There’re lots of girl image in pirate costume popped up, from Elizabeth Swann to Karen Gillian, but one that caught me was a painting of nameless girl holding a sword and pistol. After a thorough search, I found that the painting came from a Black Scorpion’s game called Cutlass!.
I didn’t really interested in the game itself (I’m not playing tabletop game like Warhammer, which is so expensive the begin with), but the one I intended to know further is who did the cover painting for its box. My first guess is Michael Komarck from the infamous Magic the Gathering TCG, as the painting overall aspect resembles his works. But lately I knew from the Cutlass! website that the artist name is John Blumen. Read the interview with the beautiful model for the painted cover here: [link]
I warn you, though, you’ll probably end up fall in love with the model (or the painting like I did)

You're Welcome. Well you still drew it rather well regardless of whether you designed it or not.
