For some reason his products make my poser 9 crash upon opening any of his freebies.

I have noticed a lot of files in his freebies that shouldn't be there, I always clean them out before I install. That could be part of the problem for you.
I would suggest if you want to use any of his stuff, create a new runtime just for it. When you install it make sure you go through the file first and get rid of all the extra stuff, especially .DS_store files and the _MACOSX file.
His stuff crashed my programs too until I started doing this. Now I don't have a problem with any of it.

It is pretty simple to do and it keeps you from putting things into your regular instilation that might mess something up. I just have a folder in my doccuments called Freebies Library, inside that i install all the free stuff that I get from all over the place. Then I just told poser and daz where to find that library. In poser 11 it is a little button that says Add Library, just hit that and tell it where the new folder is. then you can use things there without risking your regular runtime.
