They were the bane of my mothers yellow roses and other flowers where we lived in up-state NY.

Agreed, and so many of our native beetles have disappeared almost entirely because of them

I remember the larger brown June Bugs. There seemed to be less of them every year.
Here in Washington State we have Ten-Lined June Bugs.

Here we had the large metallic green June Bugs, and they have all but disappeared. I think I have seen only one in the last two years.

Oh, it has been years since I have seen one of those.
These guys are the bane of the local wild roses
And we still have these guys
