This image was taken from the popular viewing point of Feilaisi - 10km outside from the nearest major town of Deqin. Toward the start of winter, temperatures are subzero predawn which is a good thing for it means less tourists and a great sense of isolation with this magnificent sight at dawn. As the sun rises, Kawa Karpo catches the first hint of sunlight. A magical moment which we were lucky to witness given the previous two days shrouded the mountain in fog.
