Hello ~
I am searching for the safest, best and free version of Miku Miku Dance.
I would love to hear your input if you know of a website to find one of
the correct downloads for the system. (would prefer it in English.)
If you don't wish to reply, I don't mind.
Thank you for your time!
love this piece!!

Has anyone helped you yet?
MikuMikuDance is a free software, so there's no need to search for a free one as opposed to ones that cost money! It was made to get the word out about Vocaloid, I think - I've heard different things.
If you'd still like the website to the download, I'd be more than happy to give it to you! The latest version is Direct X9, but you may have to Download an additional .dll file in order to run it. I can assure you that both of these are virus free, as I've had the program for a long time with no issues. {And, the download is in English. There are a few minor misspellings in there, but not anything major.}
{And of course, giving a comment to this beautiful picture, as well~ It's stunning! The poses, the model, everything - So shiny and pretty~! <3}

no, no one has really told me anything I didn't know until now~
I would truly appreciate it if you have the time to fish up the website for me,
I have been looking around, and you know, you never know what you can trust
sometimes. But it is good to hear they are in English, and are virus free.
what exactly is a .dll file? is it sort of a runner program?
and are there any difference in how much memory the newer one uses compared
to the old ones, that you know of? Because if the newest one makes a laptop be
crippled in speed and memory, than a more efficient one would be appreciated.
Thank you so much~ I have been looking for assistance for quite a while!

Well, I'm glad I came across your comment, then! Always happy to help! <3 Here is the download page. {www.geocities.jp/higuchuu4/ind… } You'll see many different versions on there, but the most recently updated one is DirectX9, like I may have said previously. Just scroll down until you see one labeled: 1.3 MikuMikuDance (DirectX9 Ver.) There'll be some text under it with info, and then below that there'll be a link labeled the same as the title. All you have to do is click it to start the download. ^.^ Once you extract it, you'll have three things: MikuMikuDance, which has an icon of Miku's face, Userfile, which is where you will find the default models and a few poses that come with the program, all along with folders inside to hold your future models, accessories, motion data, .WAV files, and more! Data.. I honestly don't know about that folder. I wouldn't suggest messing with it, though. Just for safety.
And yeah, I think that's what it is - It's more of a plugin that allows the program to run. Even our Windows 8 Computer couldn't handle it without one. Some computers already have the necessary .dll files, but you'll know for sure if you don't - If you double-click on the program icon and an Error comes up, it means you need the .dll file. It will tell you what kind of .dll file you're missing - If you do end up receiving this error, just tell me, and I'll get the link to a safe download page for whatever .dll you need. {They may all be the same, but I for the life of me can't remember what mine said when I first installed it.}
And as for speed and memory, that would depend on your computer. The program itself takes up 5MB, but once you start downloading models, that's when the potential issue comes in. For a good laptop, like a newer one that's high speed and has a good video or graphics card, I don't think you'll have many problems unless you have a ton of things open at the time of running MikuMikuDance. Even our Windows 8 will lag if I have a lot of tabs open while running it. It is a 3D program, so that makes sense. If you have an older laptop {Or one that's considered old}, then you may want to look into it a bit more. Check how much memory you have and see how quickly it runs before installing it. If you have a 64 Bit laptop, they have a version of MikuMikuDance made for that. {I can't speak for how good it is, having not used it myself.} If you have a Mac, there's another version of MikuMikuDance for that, too. I don't know if there are problems with using other models or not, though - I don't have a mac.
If you have problems with speed and such after downloading MikuMikuDance, I suggest downloading an older version. Though this will mean you can only use PMD files and some textures will not be read by the program at all - Many models these days are in PMX Format in order to expand the polygon count on their models. {In other words, making sure you don't pass the "size" limit on models, therefore causing errors or issues upon saving or loading them. PMD files - The format for the default models - All have a limit. PMX files are unlimited in their count.} The textures are the ... Well, textures on the models. Like the TDA Miku in this picture, the way she's colored and such - Those are textures. If textures on a PMD are in a different format than normal, then they won't show up. This is one of the two main causes of the "White model" Glitch. If you have a model that comes up white on the old version, it's most likely for that reason.
Though, back to the memory concerns - The main two versions both take up 5MB, so there isn't really any difference there. The first version of MikuMikuDance only takes up 1MB, but it comes with one model and you can only use that particular model. Even on my ancient laptop, I still preferred to get the DirectX9 simply because I wanted to use Dreamy Theater models, but that was just me. xD It's different for everyone.
And no problem, glad I could help! <3 I'm just surprised no one replied sooner! Though, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me! That's what I'm here for. ^v^

yess... okay. *takes deep breath*
I know it has been so long since you gave me all this information, sorry it took me
so long to get permission from my sisters/parents. ^^' but yeah, I do have some quick
questions, and probably will have more later on after messing around on the program.
Here's the first problem:
I would love to view the preset model before uploading it into MikuMikuDance... but appearantly
no program on my computer can open the models (aka: .pmd) is there something I need for that,
or should I just not worry about it?
Here's one last one for now:
I know you have already been a great help, and I have recorded all the info I may need from your
previous comment, but... do you know of a website that offers virus-free models that will work
with the DirectX9? It would be fine if you just say a name of the website, you don't have to link
it if it is too hard to get to. thanks again.
I will definitely let you know if I have any problems later on. you've been such a great help!!!

Pffshh, that's fine! <3 Permission can't be rushed, or you might not be able to get it. ; v ;
In response to your first problem, the answer is no, you don't need to worry about it! My computer can't "Open" PMDs either, only certain programs can, like MMD, PMD Editor, etc.. If you go INTO MMD, click and drag the PMD file into the MMD Window, then the PMD will be opened there. Or you can hit the "Open" Button in the MMD window and browse through your PMD files. [Or if you have the newest version of MMD (Which I assume you do because you mentioned DirectX9), then you can do the same with PMX models, too!]
And in response to your second question, I should inform you that almost all models are Virus free! The "Official" Default models come with the program, but other models were made by people just like you, and were released according to their own will! Housing a virus on your computer isn't a safe thing to do - I can't say I've ever had a model give me a virus before. There are TONS of model up for download right here on Deviantart! For instance, the one in this picture, a TDA Miku edit- She's up for Download here!: fav.me/d5zrxqw
I have her, she's safe. Almost all models work with the newest version of MMD, so therefore in a sense, this DOES work with DirectX9. You can download loads of models from Bowlroll, but finding them can be difficult due to Bowlroll being in Japanese [ And as I've found, it's hard to navigate. ] I just search most models up here on Deviantart! It's easiest to find model Downloads by searching the name of the character you're looking for- I usually search things like "MMD Len DL" Or "MMD Len Kagamine Download" Or mix and matching of it- if "DL" Doesn't work, try "Download" as a keyword. .v.
You can also try to find things like the "Download series" That some people make! Here's one of them: duekko.deviantart.com/gallery/…
D'awww~ <3 I'm glad I could help you, I really am! ;w; Throw your questions at me, bby, I'll do my best to help youuuuu
I hope I'm not being confusing! ;v;;;

oh, thanks. ^^ no, your not being confusing at all! You have been such a great help... BUT--
I have some PMD files, which have the white model glitch you have warned me of. They came
with Bitmap files of their cloth textures and eyes, none of which are showing in the actual MMD.
I know you might have already told me a bit on how to fix them, but I can't seem to find the actual
command on the program. For now, if you can explain a bit more into fixing that problem, I will
most likely be able to go about on my own.. without bothering you over and over! XD
