Well, I think that's the fault of the writing, for bears aren't really that way in the first place XD

I think the manga writer just has this unhealthy obsession with demon-possessed bears.
And the dogs being there could have a negative effect on all the animals/predators and not just bears since the dogs multiply fast, take up lots of space in their territories, kill the prey of other native predators (and the bears by how much fish they eat) and with how much howling and barking is in the area that wasn't there before, the poor bears must be driven mad by it all and miss out on hibernation and other necessities as a result. Huh...now that I think about it, it's the dogs' fault the bears they meet are crazy XD

Though when Riki was in charge, females weren't allowed in the pack (except Cross). Some of the very first wild dogs were hunting dogs that people had left behind (like Cross and Hyena) - and mostly males. They weren't in the area for too long either, they were most of the time all over Japan for searching some new dogs for the fight. After Akakabuto died, most of the dogs returned back to their own areas or owners.
I do think not everything dogs did was right though. Like John killing the poor bear cubs when he was trained to kill the enemy, no matter if they were cubs or adults. It also kind of broke my heart and gave little sympathy to hear about Monsoon's past

And yeah, the thing with the two bear cubs really ticked me off as a little kid and showed me just how lacking of compassion the Ginga dogs were in anything but themselves and their war pride. (I liked how Gin tried to defend them though at the time)

Let me clear myself a little: When wanting to defeat Akakabuto, Ohu pack asked for help from other packs. That's how they got more dogs to join but after the battle was done, many of other packs returned to their own areas (like Hakuro's and Mutsu's packs) and some dogs who had owner returned to their owners (like Ben). They didn't just stay and hang around. That's why Weed and others needed to send messengers to ask for help when there came troubles with Hougen and others. There was lots of waiting for help.
I mean of course the actual Ohu pack stayed in their place and possibly caused some trouble to the bears if you take what happened to Monsoon and his siblings.

And then also, I'm referring more to the anime than manga where dogs were clearly shown to be living reproducing in the wilderness (the puppies shown in the beginning of Weed )

I get it, but just to mention, anime misses a lot when it comes to actual facts and the story. Then again I can't blame anyone because there's so much less information about the series in English. It's much easier to understand everything when it's in your native language, haha x) But yeah, I find some of Ohu pack's actions towards bears unreasonable and cruel too.

Where was it, in GDW or The Last Wars? I don't know details so much :'D But I bet there would be lots of parts that could be in!
In my opinion Weed isn't bearhound though... Shiro, Riki and Gin were trained by Gohei. Weed didn't even see bear until he was older, lol. XD It's a little bit funny Takahashi calls Weed and others as bearhounds anyway.

Yes they are always talking about Bearhound blood but when Weed got in front of a bear he could not even smell it lol.
