Description Ok, this was done for an photography assignment. Basically I needed to do three photos which could work together in a set for an advertising campaign. This particular set I had in mind for an insurance sort of company. All hypothetically speaking of course. The caption I put on each to hand in was "Protecting your treasures".

Anyway, it was done using a magical technique we learnt in class called "Painting with Light". That's what gives it the dark, warm glow effect. I rather like it. Tricky to get just right though. I had to do over 60 shots to get these three that I liked.

These really are wonderful, and I could definitely see them for ad-type photos
I like all the subtleties to the last one, with the books, the partly obscured 'automobiles'. Very nice!

Oh my, I had to go back and look at these when you mentioned them. I took them so long ago! Ah, the automobiles book yes. I believe one of the others is an old dictionary (wanted a fatter book), one is about dogs and the one on top is Robinson Crusoe.

Err... in case you were wondering.

Thank you very much for the compliment!

I used a Maglite brand. It's what the lecturer recomended us.
And thank you very much for the comment. It was rather fun to do.

One of my favorite things to do, except I haven't done it in years! Technically, you did nicely here! Good job on the right & middle shots!. I like the one on the right best, the subject matter makes the most sense. I'm not too sure what kind of glass that is in the center (beer of soda)? Maybe a soda can would have been a better choice.

Thank you very much! I'd love to see any light-painting shots of your's. It's really fun because you don't need much for it, just patience. These I set up just in my bedroom since I needed a quiet spot away from my siblings. And using a close-up and some material for the backdrop you'd never know!

Oh and it's a beer glass. I chose it over a can mostly so I would have any sort of brand names showing and detracting from the other objects. Plus it's meant to advertise something else rather than a soft-drink company. ^_^;;

Here is something I did over 10 years ago! The comments describe the shot.

I haven't light painted in a studio setting for some time, & I really should shoot more soon! Currently I do it on a grander scale, & under a full moon.

Larger scale with trees? Looks awsome and very 'galactic'. But how did you manage it? Much have used one heck of a big light!
And the wedding invite still looks fantastic after 10 years. I must remember it for when I next need to design an invite.

I thought I sent more link samples...oh, well just check out my

Well, the light really isn't that big, just very powerful! I use 2, & the both are hand-held. One is 1 million candle-watt powered, & the other 2 million. These are intense spotlights!!

I loved how the invites turned out, but they were very time consuming!!! I don't think I'd ever do something on that scale again (I made 150 of them)!

Ooooooooh wow, those are really pretty. X) I can't decide which one I like more, but somehow the one with the books is most appealing to me <333 aaah, a good book and something involving caffeine... XD

I really really love this one...
Not only because of the light and the colors, but there is a very old and sweet feeling in it...
You know ? A bit like the old Coca Cola advertisings...

The one with the books and the cafee is great... Could be objects from an Private investigator... In the twenties ^ ^
I love this work ! Congrats !!

I would really like to see more of your photography. Even though these items are just 'simple', you made them look beautiful. :3 I especially like the one on the right end.
