I took this pic at I believe Fort Washington I have no idea what kind of bug it is. ^^ People told me it`s a wheel bug and yet again I had no idea what it was calledRelated content

Nice shot! This is a Wheel Bug (Arilus cristatus). They are a species of Assassin Bug, one of a family which feeds on other bugs by stabbing them with a thin sucking mouthpiece (that's the red thing under its head you can kinda see in the photo) and sucking out their juices. They're so named for the strange-looking 'wheel' on their back.
