This is lovely! It makes me want to find a dragon, a good book and just relax.

David,
What dpi did you paint these in?

Dpi is for printing, I painted this at 2601x1463 original size. If I want to print, 2600 pixel wide are enough to fill 20cm at printing at 300dpi. I think thats sufficient for this artwork.

Do you do most of your work at 72dpi. I always work in 300dpi unless I know I will not be printing it, which is one draw back of most of the open-source suites since having issues with resources and large files.

Wow, this piece is amazing! It's the stuff dreams are made of. I love a good book and a comfy chair, but I'd take a good book and a comfy dragon any day

Tentei usar krita e nΓ£o consegui.
O programa ficou lento em meu notebook, uso windows, acho que se tivesse linx ubuntu ou similar, ficaria tudo certo.
No mais, linda ilustração, lembrei de Changeling: O sonhar / Os perdidos.

Oh, sorry I don't understand your langage. If you don't do the effort to use google translate , I don't know why I should do to traduce your own comments. Feel free to retraduce ; I'm ok with google translation. I'm not a native english and my skill is not really good.

I tried and could not use krita.
The program was slow on my laptop, using windows, I think if I had ubuntu linx or similar would be all right.
At most, beautiful illustration, remembered Changeling: The dream / The lost.

Hey thanks !
yes for Krita on Windows. The package is still 'alpha' and the portage experimental. Only one developper ( the leader ) worked on it as far as I know. Things will probably change with time.

Thanks ! The traditionnal part ( pencil ) took less than 2h for sure on Sunday evening.
The colorisation on Monday took me 7h~8h splitted around the full day.

I actually like the lack of background. The contrast works.

ALL of details from the scales on the dragon, to the leather on the book cover to the wings are simply stunning. I really like the color palette here as well.
