Description
Standard issue assault rifle of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. While I was in the "uchebka" (training center?) in Sertolovo I had an "uval" (when they let you go home for a weekend) almost every second Sunday, so I was drawing this - the first real, actual firearm I fired. Being close to home is cool.This piece uses #111111, #222222, etc. shades of gray, which is different from both my old palette and a newer one. As such this piece is in neither folder, simply as Featured.

Depends on the unit, I suppose. This is the very standard infantry weapon. As in "walking, marching, and running while screaming URA" grunts. They probably still have the older AK-74 if not outright AKM issued somewhere, considering I found a pair of AKM (7,62x39) bakelite magazines, spray-painted black. A friend of mine tried loading it with 5,45 rounds without realizing the mag doesn't even fit his AKS-74U. He managed to load five rounds before he started to swear uncontrollably (read: speak army language).

The AK-47 was replaced by the AKM, which was more widely produced and has longer been in service. And, considering the "100-series" chambered in 7,62 (which is used by some special forces), yes, the Ivan never forgets his classics.
