So here it is... The final cast of THE WEIRDING WILLOWS.This is the Direct Sales Market cover for Heavy Metal.
First 2 stories premiere in Heavy Metal and a third will be in the extra pages of the MONSTER MASSACRE collection in October.
The Good Guys on the cover are;
Alice, Frankenstein's monster, Mowgli, Badger, Mole, Ratty, the White Rabbit, Toad, Davey Pan, Thumbellina and Tom Thumb.
Bad Guys;
Lots of Flying Monkeys!
What about the Cheshire Cat? Not sure about him...

Yes, the first stories will in the next issue of Heavy Metal that will be on sale soon. After that it will be a regular strip in the anthology A1, the first issue of which will be released exclusively on DeviantART next month.

Badger, Mole, Ratty and Toad are so much fun to write. I'm building off the relationships from the book with a few little twists and turns as they play off the other characters I am using.
I have some fun plans for them in the future so stay tuned.

It's a shame one can't really see the famous Cheshire-smile, but the cat is still very cool. Everyone looks awesome, but smirking and ready for the battle Ratty is my personal favorite

So glad you like Ratty. He's one of my faves. I've based his character on an old British comedian called Terry Thomas. This "Ratty" is called Terry as well after him. So many of these charming old stories only used one of each character so you can get away with calling them "Toad" or "Badger" but in my series we're expanding the world so you can't have every rat be called Rat or Ratty, plus names help define characters as well.
Also the cat's name is Cheshire, so it's Cheshire the cat not the Cheshire Cat.
And I have Sami and Jessica to thank for the art. They're amazing! The designs were actually done by Barnaby Bagus [link]

So, I am totally intrigued so far.
The cover is amazing. THIS is the style I strive towards, but I'm still learning the digital side of illustration. I love how clean this is.
Davey Pan took a minute to set in. Now, that character interests me more than anyone.
I can't wait to see where this goes, best of luck!
(and on a side note, if you are know of any writers interested in working on a project, I'm in desperate need of someone who knows what they're doing. I've got a seriously cool idea, but I struggle when it comes to the actual dialogue. Thanks for your time and talent!)

The cool thing is that more and more writers are coming to da. If you haven't seen some of the great journals that Techgnotic has been writing go and check his page. His page has become a lightning rod for writers to check out.

Holy crap. Any story with Frankenstein's monster punching a flying monkey is a good story in my book, and that's not even getting started on all the other awesome in this picture. They don't make crossovers like this anymore.

I was thinking of an idea sorta like this once. It was basically a children's version of 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen', which basically featured child characters instead. I too thought of Alice and Mowgli, but there were others like Peter Pan...can't think of who else >< cool art though anyway!

Literally everyone will at some point make an appearance in WEIRDING WILLOWS. I've been holding back on using Peter Pan only because of the rights situation with Great Ormond Street Hospital. While they have the rights to collect royalties and payments on any adaptation of the work, the right to do prequels, sequels or extensions of the property have been left open to interpretation.

In my story I am using the name MAG MELL for the home of the fairies and elves. While I won't be going there in my mind Neverland is there as well.
The flying character in the middle of the picture goes by the name of "Davey Pan" and he has a brother...
