Description
This is a small tribute to the genesis Sonic era. I admit, Im a sucker for the classic style.Couple things I want to note. First of all, Sonic look familiar? I made the lineart of this late last year but after losing interest in this picture for a while, I took half of what I had already done of Sonic and turned it into this [link] . With that said, a few things like the back light on him make more sense.
Secondly, I took inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy's stylish lighting (even though I've never played the game). I combined it with a more realistic type of shading to make an interesting effect. Also I knew I wanted to have a fantasy-like background but had no idea how to go about doing it but Im satisfied with the result.

Dude! I love the way you did these characters! It's a great take on making the classic style 3-dimensional. I especially love your sonic. He's still got that cute, disney-ish feel of his classic design, but he's still got a little bit of edge to his design so he really pulls off looking cool. That can be a tough balance to strike but I feel like you got it perfectly.
I absolutely love Knux, Tails and Eggman as well and that background is very nostalgic of the Genesis games for me. My compliments, man!

Even the floor in my minecraft art is checkerboarded under that snow, its like you turned the idea I had on minecraft into epic art form.

They need should have abandoned this trio and added all these other unnecessary characters in :/ I think they finally go the hint though what with Sonic Unleashed, Colours and Generation having only Sonic and Tails as main characters but I don't think adding in Knux would hurt too much.
