Description
This is a small tribute to the genesis Sonic era. I admit, Im a sucker for the classic style.Couple things I want to note. First of all, Sonic look familiar? I made the lineart of this late last year but after losing interest in this picture for a while, I took half of what I had already done of Sonic and turned it into this [link] . With that said, a few things like the back light on him make more sense.
Secondly, I took inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy's stylish lighting (even though I've never played the game). I combined it with a more realistic type of shading to make an interesting effect. Also I knew I wanted to have a fantasy-like background but had no idea how to go about doing it but Im satisfied with the result.

Of course there are those who swear that Tails and Knuckles themselves are 'impurities' in the Sonic verse, and that any behavior from Sonic where he doesn't act like an arrogant smart-mouth is out of character.

Wow spot on mate, Little plannet, Floating Island, classic (S3) item box, im having a nostalerger moment.....
Ok moment over, Im loving the shadeing and all the back lighting and the reflective surfaces and the love and detail you put into the Floating Island wow.
One thing... The stars... I keep looking at them not because there outta place, just they scream "Im a hidden refference and your not getting it".
Anyway great work and keep it up.

As usual, everything here looks great... but unlike usual, the ring on sonic's finger is a little 2d, that should have had more depth. Otherwise, I'd say it's perfect like the rest of your deviations.

Sexy coloring job here. Everything looks all nice and shiny. Love Robotnik's pose on the monitor. Doesn't get much sexier. Sonic and Knuckle's poses compliment each other very well. And good lil' Tails at the top. Awesomeness.

The shading is most excellent, I can definitely see the Galaxy influence there, with the white boarders around the characters.
And I must applaud you for using the correct character designs instead of the horrendously ugly modern ones.

Thanks, and while not perfect, I found just doing the galaxy lighting manually by hand to be the easiest way.

This looks FREAKING AMAZING. And while I may like Modern more, that's no reason for me to not like Classic. (I prefer his games over most of Modern's anyway CX). Back on topic of the picture, you've really outdone yourself on this one, and I can definitely see professional techniques throughout. Truly phenomenal.

no school like the old school! I bought the original cartridges of the first 2 games, in box and with manual, from a local Play N Trade yesterday! I felt like such a cool kid!
