Description This is a small tribute to the genesis Sonic era. I admit, Im a sucker for the classic style.

Couple things I want to note. First of all, Sonic look familiar? I made the lineart of this late last year but after losing interest in this picture for a while, I took half of what I had already done of Sonic and turned it into this [link] . With that said, a few things like the back light on him make more sense.

Secondly, I took inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy's stylish lighting (even though I've never played the game). I combined it with a more realistic type of shading to make an interesting effect. Also I knew I wanted to have a fantasy-like background but had no idea how to go about doing it but Im satisfied with the result.

As a fan of the Classic era and the Super Mario Galaxy series, this is awesome.

I love how Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, & Eggman are all together, reminding us of Sega's glory days on the Genesis.
You've never played Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2? They're one of the Wii's greatest yet!! I guarantee you'll have a great time with them like everyone else who played them.

Cool, I like the style of this, really captures that feel of the art surrounding the games back in the day.

It's kind of looks like maybe Eggman is their boss, sort of a Charlie's Angels kind of vibe.

Simply amazing! I love the shading and the poses of the characters, as well as the background! Amazing. I like both Classic and Modern Sonic games. They are both great to me.

I think the classic style is awesome too, but WAAAAAAAY overrated. Fans nowadays hate ANYTHING that has to do with newer characters, 3D levels or new concepts. That's why SEGA's catering to them with Sonic 4 and Sonic Generations.

But I'm not hating on it, I just wish those people would STFU and give the newer games a chance.

I personally have not played any of the latest Sonic games so I can't judge. I think the last game I played was Sonic Heroes but I have nothing good to say about that game unfortunately.

I loved Sonic Heroes, personally.

But I think they've all been given an unfair reputation; whether its the story, the voice acting or one certain part of the game that's hard or has awkward controls, that's all it takes to make it unpopular. And SEGA isn't trying to improve on that; they just keep experimenting.

I've been a fan from the very beginning and I totally agree. I'm looking forward to Sonic Generations, but it feels as though Sonic Team are stepping too far backwards. I would be far more excited if they announced a new Sonic Adventure style title. Either way, Sega had to revise the characters back then, because their design didn't translate very well in 3D. The polygon models in Sonic R exemplify this, although I do like that game. Fans ball ache about this generation of Sonic because the franchise is not how they remember it, shame really.

I agree; SA2's only flaw was the horrible graphics, at least during the cutscenes which made them nearly unwatchable. If they improved that a bit, it'd be nearly flawless.

I never did consider SA2 to be a bad looking game, although it does look pretty jagged round the edges these days. What bugged me about that game was the generally flawed gameplay, which was glitchy overall. To me the original SA felt smoother to play, once you were familiar. What the Sonic Adventure games did was expand the the Sonic universe and make you feel part of it, no one should complain about that

It was pretty glitchy, but it never got me killed or anything (unlike Sonic Heroes lol but I still loved it xD).

I have died so many times in sonic heroes for the same silly reasons. The game frustrates me, but I too still love it. I'm just not very good at hating stuff LOL

I think you've done mighty fine with this one. The lighting of course looks cool and I love how you can see a little bit of Eggman's eye poking out from behind his glasses. One thing I'll point out is that Tails looks a little big. I don't know how tall he is in relation to sonic normally but I always imagined him to be smaller in height and features.
