Zutara = HEART!This came about because of my good friend ! We watched the season three thingy and decided to draw some good ol' Zuko & Katara, so she gave me this prompt: 'Draw a picture of Katara taking a bath and then zuko warms the water.' So this is what came about.
I actually hand drew this on paper (GASP) then colored it digitally. Texture is from CGtextures.com, which is a wonderful site. Also, the original image is HUGE so feel free to download to get the steamy goodness.

Oh gosh, wow...what an awesome picture! I love the background especially, and the style of the characters. Katara looks a lot like Nami from "Lilo and Stitch".

Great pick. To be honest, I like Zuko. He's going through alot of shit. You can't expect him to be perfect but we admire his will to do good that lies in the shadows of all the wrong doings. His personality is straight forward but understanding.
Katara is a rainbow brat. She whines and fights so that everything is "righteous". Then she wants to be included in youth activities and wonders why no one likes her (or treats her like a housewife/mom). She has the ability for compassion (upon this you build Zutara).
She would probably turn out more like Azula if she was Ozai's daughter than Zuko. Reason being she doesn't have the greatest moral strength, like Zuko does. Even WITH his history, it seems Zuko would stand by what he believed in long before Katara would.
I don't see much reason for Zuko to like Katara. If I were the writer, I would turn Zuko into a warrior sage do to his unyeilding strength and ideals. If Zuko had to choose, he SHOULD choose Mai, because of how similar they are. Regardless of their past lives they show undaunting strength in so called "lost situations" to do the right thing, when everyone else would asume they wouldn't.

Yeah, I just think Zutara is cute. I don't really care what the writers do with shipping on the show, as that's not what I watch the show for.

But, if Zutara were to happen, it would happen on the premise of companionship in war (thats the only believable circumstance I could see). This would leave Mai's good deeds to lead her to a moment of self discovery, turning herself into a warrior character on the good side, (but not local to those characters), and because of this major realization, she would be preoccupied by this.
Of course, what what would be great to would be an intense love triangle between these 3 and an ending only a professional could do.
Till then, Zutara will still be 2 good looking cartoon bodies doing things together.

As much as I love how you portrayed the two characters here, and the emotions... I'm really enjoying the background a lot too. It's just so great how you did all the colors... It's soft and serene. Kinda reminds me of ancient Rome... I'm not sure why though.

I'm so glad you like it! I was struggling with the background a bit, so I'm glad to hear it came out alright. I was trying to make it look like some of the architecture from the western air temple, which has some ancient roman qualities in it.
