Zutara = HEART!This came about because of my good friend ! We watched the season three thingy and decided to draw some good ol' Zuko & Katara, so she gave me this prompt: 'Draw a picture of Katara taking a bath and then zuko warms the water.' So this is what came about.
I actually hand drew this on paper (GASP) then colored it digitally. Texture is from CGtextures.com, which is a wonderful site. Also, the original image is HUGE so feel free to download to get the steamy goodness.

Ah man thats hot. Puts whole new meaning to the Phrase "Hot water" Looks so beautiful. I'm glad they look older in this picture than in the current timeline. Now, they are too young in my opinion to be that close. But older, then yeah. Thats ok.

I've heard about that story, haven't read it though. I'm not really into fanfiction that much, probably because I'm a book snob and I'm really picky about what I read. :is a loser: I know alot of people like that one though, and if it spreads the Zutara love, more power to it!

You portray their characters so carefully, paying attention to detail so that they don't just look like a beautiful tan girl and a handsome young man...we know exactly who they are...but you also add your own creativity and make them look truly unique and original...

LOVE THIS! Their poses are kick-butt with Zuko's finger tips in the water with his arm around Katara. The look on Zuko's face is so great. They just look so great together don't they? lol

I had fun with those poses, believe it or not when I started drawing this they were in completely different poses, but I kept starting over and they kept getting closer and closer together...

If you don't mind me asking, how do you get your outlines to look like that? Like how it looks like a colored pencil outline while the rest of it looks painted. I really like how that looks together.

Well, I usually do everything digitally, but I actually drew this with mechanical pencil then scanned it and cleaned it up. Then I just painted it, threw in a background and added a texture to it that I found on cgtextures.com.
It actually took me a while to clean up the line because for some reason the scanner I used made the edges all pixely...I just used a brush with 30% softness in photoshop to kind of clean up the lines without making them too fuzzy/sharp. I also like to lower the opacity of my lines a bit and set the layer to blend with the colors underneath it. I find it keeps the lines from looking harsh and it gives them the 'colored pencil' look you mentioned!
