Description When I make fan OCs, I do it right. My goal was to make a crew that you could easily see existing in One Piece. I like to think I succeeded.

Meet the Calico Pirates, lead by captain "Calico" Jack Rackham, the user of the Metal Metal Fruit (logia). His name comes from the real life pirate who both Jack Sparrow and Red Rackham were based on, and the creator of the iconic Jolly Roger. Why Oda hasn't used this name yet is beyond me. Maybe's got bigger plans than mine, who knows.

If I had the time, I'd turn this in to a full fledged fan comic styled after the movies and mail it straight to Oda as a love letter. But I don't, so I won't. Maybe one day.

Calico crew members, from left to right are as such-
Petro (Lion Fish Fishman, shoots poison darts from his wrist), Herne Herne (the crew's master huntsman) , Brigid Belenus (the crew's doctor), Kipp (the crew's engineer and user of the Monkey Monkey Fruit), Jack Rackham (the crew's captain and user of the Metal Metal Fruit), Primo Carne (the crew's cook/first mate and an expert boxer), Macha (the crew's navigator and former resident of skypiea), Tom P. Hobbes (the crew's historian and user of the Yarn Yarn Fruit), Arawn (expert swordsman and spiritual adviser)

Most names are taken either from historical figures or celtic dieties, not sure why I chose celtic. (Petro and Kipp are completely made up) One of them is a linguistic pun, as Oda loves to make. Primo Carne is named after the famous italian boxer, Primo Carnera, but the name "Primo Carne" directly translates to "first meat". He is both the cook and the "first mate". Hehe.

Pretty cool and I love the pun about Primo's name. But what does a spiritual advisor actually do, especially for a pirate ship?

I think I just wanted to add a spiritual character, along the same lines as Bartholamew Kuma. Idk it's hard to remember what I had in mind four years ago.

Actually the Rumbar Pirates' (Brook's Old Crew and the People who owned Laboon) Captain was calledΒ "Calico" Yorki. He was Oda's version of "Calico" Jack Rackham

Oh wow, why haven't I seen this before. This is all kinds of fantastic.

I love making my OC stuff feel like Realistic One Piece stuff too. Though most of the stuff I've made thus far are just like main characters(like your version of Jack), with a few side characters. Though majority of my stuff stays as ideas in my head, since my drawing skill is bit, meh.

Also for Calico, Oda has actually used him as influence in some of his characters(Well, at least this one, can't really recall).

onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Yorki

I've lately been looking at how the Jack mentioned by one of the Brokers in the Punk Hazard arc could possibly a character that is directly influenced by Calico Jack.
And if he is then I can but just wait and hope that Oda influences his look on Sparrow.(Sanji's voice actor voices Jack Sparrow in the dub so the chances of him having seen the films are pretty high. He loves himself them pirates man.)

Wow, this must've taken you forever (I can appreciate the length of time that it takes tp draw multiple characters). Jack's scars are...wow. I also like Petro's look! XD

Quite interesting, when I found this picture I actually thought it was a crew from further manga chapters since I only watch anime.
You did a good job, they're all really interesting!
