The Canon G11 is great for macros, it can focus like 1cm away from subject. You can see the pic i've cropped in the description. Closer the cam would show its shadow

Well that depends how much control you want with it, how much you'd spend, what it does you need or dont care about, thanks for all the favs! For exemple, when i started with a compact, i was mad i could never focus on corners, that it was always focusing the middle etc.. Reflex cams can be great, but you gotta explore out of the "auto" mode. I miss my (with autofocus while shooting this time) sony dsc-w. for quick shooting I would get the latest [link]
