These were originally the opening paragraphs of an article for my school's newspaper that I wrote (in conjunction with ~KeyboardSamurai for the lists). The article featured the top TV Shows, Songs, Health Scares (think Mad Cow Disease and Swine Flu), Broadway Shows, Technology Innovations, Movies, Books, Websites, Celebrity Scandals, and News Events. The first part of this reminds me of Billy Joel's song, "We Didn't Start the Fire." I think you could almost sing your text to that tune...
