Description
"Transformers: BotBots is a Transformers franchise that began in 2018, involving small, cartoony, super deformed robot characters who transform into mundane items. In the universe of the BotBots, a mysterious cloud of energon gas drifted through a shopping mall, turning tools, electronics, furniture, food, toys, sports equipment, and just about anything else into tiny transforming robots. By day they hide, and by night, mischief is aplenty.
Starting off originally as a toyline, the running success helped grow the franchise enough for it to gain books, a mini-comic, a pack of convention exclusives and a bunch of other merchandise. A Netflix-original cartoon premiered in March 2022.
BotBots takes place within its own continuity, and—for the most part—ignores any of the factions or concepts that had previously been used in Transformers. Instead, the line gave birth to a wide variety of "squads" based on the stores or places they were brought to life inside. On very rare occasions, references would be made to extant Transformers universes or incarnations of existing characters; which indicate those to exist as mass-market fiction within the BotBots universe."
Hey there, Dex coming back at you with yet another day of Transformers Month. This time we have Botbots. Botbots to put it lightly is really weird but that's kind of the charm of it, I will admit when I saw the first ever promo pictures/art for Botbots, I was like "What the fuck is this?!" but then I saw that the toys were full on Transformers and they grew on me. I just like how with Botbots, Hasbro wasn't scared to just go with the flow, just be as stupid and silly as they could and hell they didn't feel the need to throw in Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee or Starscream just brand new characters. I'm still not sure how food Transformers work and the more I think about it the more it grosses me out. Then there's a guy who turns into dog shit or something and I don't know how to unpack that, or the ones who turn into animals. (Not in a Beast Wars kind of way but a horror movie style way). Otherwise all the other Botbots are pretty cool, cute and neat. The Netflix show was pretty good for what it was. My fave Botbot is my boy Slobber Rock, he's a cute little guy. One thing I don't like about Botbots was how stupidly hard Hasbro made it to buy the damn things without getting doubles or triples of dudes you already bought because of the blind packs and five to eight packs. I do feel like if they thought that shit out better then Botbots could've made even more money and wouldn't be dead now. (Also RIP to the Season 6 Botbots we didn't end up getting, Like the dude who turned into a Skull, that dude was awesome)
Anyway this has been Dex, over and out.
