Description
UAC Demonic Entity Log: 004- Cacodemons
Though many of the demonic specimens that were collected were easy to spot, being grounded, large airborne creatures began to spring up on the Phobos base and were much more difficult to procure. The first of these seen were what the research team called the Cacodemons, a name derived from the greek kakodaímōn meaning "Evil Spirit". Cacodemons' anatomy acts like that of a hot air balloon, with an internal source of heat that makes the oxygen inside of the creature less dense than that outside of it. Because of their hollow bodies, Cacodemons are very light-weight and aerodynamic, though their skin is unusually resilient and thick. Adorned with a crown of thorn-like spikes and possessing a singular eye, Cacodemons tend to be seen in more open areas like that of foundries and outside of the base itself, slowly floating at their leisure. The Cacodemon's blue-colored insides reveal a uvula that can generate an intense amount of electricity, able to spew projectiles of suspended plasma at an opponent.

It would be so funny if when a Cacodemon died from its skin being punctured, if it deflated. I mean, it's a ball floating around in the air, just imagine if the corpse was substantially smaller than the living Cacodemon...!
Also, this is something with each of these DOOM redesigns, but I like how there is a sort of sickliness to them. This is Hell, after all.

I definitely like your take on the Cacodemon, I just realized (why didn't I sooner?) that ID clearly ripped that design off, whole sale, from a monster on a certain D&D book cover: oldschoolfrp.tumblr.com/image/… Astral Dreadnaught is a badass name too. Anyway, Great job as always M8

Another hit. It's always your details that do it:
- Because of the dimpling around them, the spikes/horns look like they are coming out of the creature and they look like they hurt.
- The way the teeth are badly uneven. Another malformation that looks painful.
It really adds up to a monster that, because it looks like it is in pain, comes off as very dangerous to be near. It gives me a sense of the creature from Carpenter's The Thing (all time favorite movie of mine).
Keep up the great work!

Thanks as always dude! Really liking your observations on these, a lot of these details are things I only subconsciously think about, but your assessment of them validates the whole vision of the project for me. You get what I'm goin' for.
Oh, and The Thing is one of my faves as well, and definitely an inspiration for these!

God, this exceeds my expectations and then some. The coloring is great very bright and almost painful to the eyes which fits the subject to a tee. I absolutely love your take on its design; it's familiar but has your own unique take on it. It feels more Giger-esque (which I hope doesn't annoy you, I say that as an incredible compliment), alien and disgusting yet you can tell how it functions from visuals alone; the description just confirms it. I absolutely love this, you've done a great job bringing this to life mate, keep up the good work!

Oh, and no problems with the Giger comparison. I take that as a huge compliment and Giger is one of the many main sources of inspiration for this project!

No problem, I am in love with these projects of yours and eagerly await whatever you do next.
Alright, glad to hear that. I thought so, most of the non-human designs so far felt like something that would have happened if Giger worked on the original Doom (that would be one hell of a game, wouldn't it? haha). Taking inspiration from him is never a bad thing, it tends to lead to increible designs; case in point, this right here.
