Description
Mission Logfile 003: CHOZOBrinstar, despite having an active ecosystem, displays an eerie sense of abandonment at times, as if haunted by the memories of long-dead beings. In these caverns of vast emptiness, I’ve run across a handful of what appear to be statues, almost always posed in a religious or ceremonial manner. Designating them as statues might be premature however, as it’s a possibility that they’re rather the petrified remains of beings that used to inhabit this place. Oddly, many of their skulls contain large puncture wounds…even stranger, all in groups of four. The repetitious nature of this and the way their bodies are positioned seem to indicate something reminiscent of a ritualistic sacrifice. What killed them? If these are indeed corpses, I have no idea how long they’ve been dead, or better yet, how long they were here before their demise, as I’ve seen architectural remains scattered nearby that appear to be quite advanced. I cannot be certain, but these remains are reminiscent of an ancient species of interplanetary terraformers that anthropologists have collectively called the Chozo, whose influence has been seen in small doses across a variety of planets. Interestingly, there’s speculation that they even had a presence on the Metroid’s home, SR-388… though I can’t make that connection unless I go there myself. Their presence is both ghostly and sinister, yet also strangely comforting.

And to think that Samus was raised by these guys.
Hate to admit it, but their appearance is slightly...abhorrent.

Ooh, these are back! I love the color choice. really good job on the lighting too. chilling backstory too. I like how you're making your own lore instead of sticking to cannon. you're rather good at it.

This reminds me of the stautesque characters/designs in the movie Angel's Egg. Very hauntingly beautiful--nice job!

This is beautiful, love the haunting, empty atmosphere with this picture. It definitely adds to the hostile and alien feeling of Brinstar
