Warning:: Very large ImageD/L for full size.
Been wanting to draw some old , obscure game characters, ranging from somewhat obscure to very obscure.
From Left to right:
NARC: Narc Policeman
Narc was an Crime busting Side scroller game, dealing with arresting drug dealers. Made in 1988, by Williams Electronics.
Q*Bert: Q*bert
An isometric platformer/ puzzle game made by Gottlieb in 1982.
Berzerk: Robot and Evil Otto
These next two characters, A robot and Evil Otto are from the 1982 arcade-multi-directional shooter, Berzerk, made by Stern Electronics.
Yar's Revenge Yar
This insect like creature is from the 1981 atari 2600 game titled Yar's Revenge. The point of the game was to destroy the quotile's (villain's) shield on the other side of the stage while dodging free roaming torpedoes.
I'll try to do more of these soon. They were a lot of fun to draw!

I think the blue suited policeman in NARC was called Max Force.

The NARC coppers are called Max Force (blue) and Hit Man (red).

Wow, I'm actually adapting Berzerk into a sci-fi action fanfiction, and the way I envisioned the robots is creepily similar to yours; almost as if I read your mind!

Sounds cool! Deviantart needs more fanart of the games that never get any.
Your comment as made me want to to another Berzerk related piece soon.

Nicely done!
I particularly love your Q*bert interpretation.
(He looks also like a cross between a muppet and Hamhose from that obscure cereal Freakies in the 1980s!)

The blue Narc policeman was named Max Force, while the red was named Hit Man.
I remember playing Berzerk when I was a kid; Evil Otto always pissed me off. I also remember Berzerk being one of the few video games to actually kill somebody in real life.

Ah, didn't know that. Cheesy names, haha.
Yeah, I heard about the so-called 'Berzerk curse' more than one instance too.

I recognized all of them, instantly. Though I always saw Q*Bert's nose as a cannon, not a trunk...
Otherwise, great piece of old school.

Some are more obscure than others, but it's cool to see that someone can recognize them all.
Thanks!

The Berzerk Robot looks extremely familiar. Like maybe you based this interpretation on something out of the Star Wars expanded universe? Or maybe I'm just getting deja vu.
Nitpicking: the game is called "Yars' Revenge," as in the revenge of more than one Yar. It's also a very well-known game, and "Q-bert" is downright legendary.

Well, I based the design of the robot off of something from the Marvel universe called a Mandroid.
I also just felt like drawing certain characters, even if they aren't that obscure at all.
Maybe only just a little obscure.

I saw today a youtube video by Classic Game Room about the Atari port of Berzerk, and the booklet does show some detailed drawings of the robots. It's surprisingly similar to the one you drew. I always thought that the Yar should have a longer "tail".

Tail?

Q-Bert is a little strange... he had a Birdo-like nose/mouth... your rendition makes him kinda look like the love child of Q-Bert and Snuffleupagus... intentional?

Haha, I just wanted to give him more of an elephantine trunk rather than a cartoony one.

I use to play a lot of Atari as a kid. Berzerk was one of my favorite games. Evil Otto was a lot like Phanto from Mario Bros. 2, but Evil Otto never lets up!
If you what obscure, Hydlide (NES) and Golden Axe Warrior (Saga Master System) are good lesser known titles.

Never heard of Hydlide but I think Golden Axe is fairly well known.
A few from my series 2 and 3 line up will be Some very obscure ones.
