Description Camera: Olympus E330
Lens: Standard 14-45mm
Filter: Cokin something
Model: One of the first deviations of just all me

I wanted to test out my new tripod i'm trialing for general use, sos i took a bunch of test/messing shots in my lounge room and then after some photoshop'n i this was born.

I happened to have a song by the Fray playing while making this, which is where the pics name came from

Something i'm a little erked about in this is that in the central figure he's looking down into his lap, but because i'm wearinga beanie, it just appears taht i have no head and there's a dark blotch where it should be dunno, what do you think?

The furniture in our new house has not been fully sorted out which is why none of it matches in the photo

i used some brushes which i cann't for the life of me remember where i got them...if anyone recognises one and can point it out, it'd be great

Given that I know how manky those couches really were.. ~gag~ However, they look cool in this pic.. the checkered-ness adds something to it... Kind of rustic grunge-like feel..and thus kind of relatable and approachable. It really works.

The standing pic looks a little like he has dropped out of the Matrix somehow... don't take the blue pill Dave!

...but seriously I love the different poses.. it has a feel of 'pacing the room' about it. And the different outfits kind of reveal a longer timeframe and indeed the process of anguish and questioning. (Including denial, frustration and brokenness?) Actually, the posing is almost clear enough to make each figure define and represent one of these very phases of that process.

Was that your intent?

The way that you have made 'his' face invisible is interesting and works because a) it makes the observer imagine and impose their emotional beleif onto the figure and b) it adds to the concept of possible shame/hidden-ness that the overall image represents. Possibly too, it could help the reader identify with the figure because it allows this freedom to impose our own 'face' into the scene.

Oh, and the middle head thingie doesn't look funny at all. You're being too harsh on yourself there.

Uh, well that was a long comment. But I guess that's the point of art... to make people think..?

Awesome stuff Dave

Still-in-Exile [2006-11-01 00:43:49 +0000 UTC]

I love it, in full view you can tell its a beanie fairly easily so thats no worries.

But on the whole band thing, being a five peice band could make live performances a rather painfull experience for you.

But seriously, The poses are all perfect except the guy in the suit, he looks just a tiny bit to forced while all the rest feel natural, even the guy blocking his face just looks like he hates the paparazi. dunno tho cause besides the center I like him best. Hmm...

I like how it turned out, Dej. The beanie looks fine, really. Up close, you can tell it's a cap.
Makes me think that this is an album cover. So are you your own band now? You could be called, " The DejaVus"
(Just poking fun, pal.)

Dejas In reply to Mizra [2006-10-31 16:46:41 +0000 UTC]

yeah i know you are mate. Well i kinda wanted it to look like an album cover when i began, so that's cool you think that. And yes i am going to form a band with just me in it

IchthusChick [2006-10-31 16:38:29 +0000 UTC]

I love this pic the beanie looks fine because you can still see the shaddow of your head on your chest. For me it looks like the middle figure is praying while the others are not quite sure on what to to with the situation they are in, he seems to be the only one that looks calm.... but hey its late and my mind is going nuts
