Description At last, it's finished! I made some minor corrections, and I added a distant city beyond the mountains. This is the largest, most detailed and time consuming piece I've done until now, and I'm quite proud! In full size you will see only the 1/5th of the original size (which is 3600x3600).
All the models are created by me from scratch in 3ds max, except for the weapons, which are the free sci-fi firearms of Daz3D. The scene was renderded in 3ds max
and the background mountains & sky were created and rendered with Bryce. The final compositing and post process was done in Photoshop.

Here you can see a large closeup of the full resolution image: >>> [link]
Here you can see a clean version of the cyborg model: >>> [link]

They have a kind of RIFTs feel to them (See Rifts NGR) although I'm not sure you know of Palladium Books "Rifts" series.

great work

memod [2004-11-21 01:03:43 +0000 UTC]

first of all congratulations on being one of the winners, you have made quite a nice piece, full of action
I like the bots and their shape, with those thingys on the back...yet, I do have some crits...first of all, the most disturbing thing..the background.
dunno, those rocks look just really unnatural, way too matte, and the one directly behind the bots is too reflective.... dark, low saturated brown which is less shiny would have been better I think.
next, a small thing, that bike is too long I think... it loses its style, scaling it down to about 75 or 80 % of its length might look better
also the textures of it ( and in general) look a little artificial...rather randomly placed arrows and signs which seem to have no obvious sense... and textures could be dirtier
but apart from these points, well done picture

Deligaris In reply to memod [2004-11-21 12:09:16 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for your criticism, it is very wellcome!
Note that I made the bike big and long intetionally, you know, to pass some subliminal messages to the viewer...
However, the real reason was that when I designed the bike, I made the rider's driving position almost lying forwards horizontally, in order to be in more dynamic position. Also, I already reduced its length to about 80%

memod In reply to Deligaris [2004-11-21 12:16:53 +0000 UTC]

hm, but it looks kind of "un-stylish" to me so long ^^
but ok, that's a matter of personal taste

A sportsbike like this wouldn't get far in sucha rough terrain. And chain-driven rear wheel? You could have used a kardan... Besides, a heavy machine isn't exactly what you would use as a terrain motorbike. Zundapp KS 750 and BMW R75 were the last heavy assault motorcycles, (they had a side car with a driven wheel plus many more accesories, could carry more stuff than a lot of modern cars) nowadays the function of an army bike is held by light cross motors.
The bike is just too much of a classic, and too much of a dachshund (too long). Stupid question, but have you seen Dodge Tomahawk?

AND if you're into something heavier, check out Renault UE and NSU Kettenkrad. Google gfx search is good for that. I think the 3dsmax model for EU was included in encyclopaedia DeEspona.

As for the gfx, it's pretty cool

Thanks for the technical comments, I'm not really into these stuff, although I'm aware of some of those you mentioned. I just made things to look good only visually.
