It is a real book. It's a novel that includes four books in one. One book has 1100 pages. But in the drawing it looks as if has less pages.

It's one of my first GBA games I played and I like it! I had stick around with a few games in the series till the Wii, and enjoy seeing it evolve since it's NES inception. Though I haven't finished non of them XD
