I don't know how many of you understand what's going on in Gaza at the moment, but it disgusts me, I feel sick just thinking about it. Here in Australia, so many people are either:

A. Unaware
B. Aware, but choosing to ignore it.
C. Aware, acknowledging it but refusing to take a stance.

I don't think people fully comprehend the circumstances and that's part of the problem - so I'm hoping this will help to clarify.

Approximately 1.5 million Palestinians are (essentially) trapped in Gaza, which is about 360 square kilometres in size. To put this into perspective - Wagga is more than 10 times as large (4,800 square kilometres) and our population is around 55,000. The Australian population is around 20 million.

1,500,000(4,800 ÷ 360) = 20,000,000

Imagine the entire Australian population crammed into Wagga - that's how severe the situation is.

It's pretty ridiculous when the Israelis claim that they were only retaliating to the Palestinian terror attacks - I don't suppose they considered that by making 5 million Palestinians (1.5 million in Gaza alone) refugees, they probably deserved to be attacked.

Someone wrote, "Only a Nazi would use overwhelming military might against fire crackers and then use propaganda to play victim."

It's a cruel irony really, that following World War II and the Holocaust, the Jews are essentially doing to the Palestinians what was done to them.

I hope this opens some peoples' eyes to the situation in Gaza.
