Aha, it kind of does, not to mention her name is Myr.
But no, it's a character from a friend of mine. c:

Sexy, but with no background, the scratching tells mine eyes that she is made of glass or a glass-like substance and leaves me wondering where her organs are.

Overall, it's still a sexy picture.

This is absolutely gorgeous. I'm a fan of *Draconis-Wyrm as well. You did Myr justice I think.
I absolutely love the detail, and I like the scratchy looking shaded parts. Where they done with ball point pen, or at least a pen using a similar ink (they're the only ones I know that do that effect)?
Either way it's very pretty.

I hope I did. Myr's a cool character so I tried to make it look cool. I hope. As for your question, aside from the little bit of colour (mmm, Photoshop) it's all done with a really crappy ballpoint pen on the verge of death that I like just a wee little bit too much.

Fucking awesome! I get absolutely gleeful but somehow I don't think the native speakers like me, I have so much trouble keeping up... I'm hoping this one girl just kind of understands you know? I would have answered her back but I'm so embarrassed sometimes to use it. I think it would sound stuttering and horrible and awkward just for me to type it anyways (I read her description on her picture too and I was all like "nem Γ©rtem!")
I grew up in a small pocket where there was no other Hungarians and it was kind of lonely (it's still quite lonely!) We talk all flat and accentless.... they wouldn't let us learn you know that? We couldn't speak it in schools! To have an accent was taboo, I think. They were so mean to this Arabic girl too... she never talked ever because of it, so I communicated with her through body posture and so I was able to tell the teacher stuff... but it was like offensive to them you know?
Some of us even had to change our names. My oldest brother, Ferenc, just goes by "Frank", he wasn't allowed to be called by that name even though it's been in my family for generations.
Plus my American mother did not like the idea of a bilingual home; those who could already speak it could but me and my youngest brother couldn't learn. I am a little resentful. Now as an adult I can learn, my nagymama and even my father now try to teach me, I found it's hard. I think the pallet in my mouth has hardened so it makes mustering up an accent difficult.
BTW I'm duel citizen.
I remember hearing a girl in high school speak Hungarian; I knew that beautiful language right away and I was so so happy just to hear it. We came We cried a couple of times, it's like being homesick. They were ok with people internationally in high school; tons of things I noticed that were taboo became ok (like a lot of LGBTQ people I knew had come out.)
I would have hung out with the Hungarian girl more but it was frustrating we had really different class schedules she was in this honor thing and I wasn't. I did hang out with other immigrant outcasts, oddly enough they were Turkish and Georgian (the Georgian girl was republic of Georgia, not the USA state), and one Ukrainian girl that I hung out with but in a different clique. They were odd nationalities to be friends with me (I had a problem with Maia that was kind of an awkward time when she found out my nationality and I didn't quite understand, but she realized I was cool with her so she wasn't so guarding in her trust.)
Anyways, I get so overjoyed to find other Hungarians here, they put in all their descriptions mostly Hungarian and a little English... I think they don't trust me somehow, or they don't have the fluent English... or both... But I didn't realize there would be so many on dA!!
You have made me so happy you have no idea. I get choked up when I get chances to talk to others like this, it gets almost lonely being the only one of my kind, only my family are the only Hungarians I know. We're from GyΕ‘r, what city are you from?
I'm putting you on Devwatch btw.

Oh dear. I'm actually a straight up Canadian citizen. I've never been out of Canada and I never learned the language, although I dearly want to. I don't even know where my father is from. All I know is that wnehever we go to visit my grandma they get into long conversation in Hungarian and I have no idea what they're saying. So, while I want to learn it and it's a beautiful language, I'm like you: my pallet is simply too hardened from speaking English all my life and I fear I'll never learn it.

In other words: we're on the far ends of the spectrum. You grew up over there, I grew up over here. I never even learned the language. The only thing remotely Hungarian in my household is the cooking, which I absolutely adore.

I don't know. I feel like I've let you down for mentioning it. :C

I think you misunderstood one part: I wasn't born over there, but if you come from at least one parent who was born in another country you are a citizen of that country... I'm not sure how it is in Canada. Everything was self-substained in this family; there also was some issues with my American mother and fighting off this influence but it's kind of, not great to go into about it. Gah I think a lot of this loneliness is the turbulent life I've lived!
In the end I think I feel loneliness for another one of my kind and I feel I missed out. The other kids in the family have been back.
I'm going back to GyΕ‘r sometime soon, but for a vacation, not to stay. I won't stay long-term over there for a while now, just vacation and get to see family who live there. I still have a LOT to finish up over here.

idk maybe I can show you a little of what I know in typing? And yes, Hungarian cuisine is absolutely the best! I love langΓ³s!

If you know if any Hungarian music though, let me know.

Still I'm glad to meet you.

Ah. In that case I did misunderstand you. You were speaking of getting picked on and segregated because of your heritage and I got a bit confused, there. But then, that's humanity for you, I guess. Heaven forbid we should be nice to each other. No. We're too different to get along, apparently. Makes me sick to my stomach, it does.

In which case I envy you for going back! I've always wanted to but my money isn't exactly high. Enjoy yourself to the fullest when you go!

I'm not sure if I've ever had this langos you speak of (and I still have no idea how to get accents over letters) but my dad makes letcho on occasion and I absolutely adore it. And I don't know any Hungarian music, sadly. Considering that I'm heavy into, well, heavy metal, I'm no help in the music department. At all.

I think it's Human nature to pick on "The Other" for whatever reason. Not that it should be tolerated to however... truly if we want to separate ourselves from a more primal/animalistic creature we should fight that urge and overcome it.
But yeah I found as I grew older it's not really a big issue anymore... I don't bother to visit any old teachers from when I was young, and I don't bother with former friends. My mother has found other issues to be hysterical anyways.

And money is definitely an issue... I lost my job a while back before the recession but I was comfortable were I was... now it seems impossible to find one. My brother is having employment issues as well. Worse, AgΓ (nagymama's sister) died recently, she was always the one who took the family in when we went to visit (I would have given anything to ship my nagymama back to see her funeral, she was so heartbroken and upset... that's like a kind of closure that she didn't get...)
Plus, I may or may not be moving, there's so many plans in my life up in the air.

LangΓ³s is.. I always described it as a "potato donut" if that makes sense... mostly because of the way it's cooked and it's shaped. It's not sweet though; usually it's flavored with garlic. I guess "potato biscuit" would be more accurate. It's made of potato dough, fried in oil, seasoned, and served hot. Usually with some kind of goulash. Letcho (that's the phonetic spelling, I can't think of how to actually spell it...) is one of my favorite dishes. One year when we grew peppers and tomatoes really successfully and we had it all the time... mmmmm. Some people put bacon in it and cook it in lard... we usually just cook all the veggies together so they'll make their own sauce, and serve it over rice. I think it would be spelled "lecsΓ³." To know how to spell and pronounce Hungarian, one much pay attention to each letter as they are written.
We have 40 letters in our alphabet, some are double and one or two are tripple glyph. An example of such a letter would be "cs" in "lescΓ³." Another of the "gy" in GyΕ‘r. "R" is rolled, and "t" is emphasized at the end of the word. "Q", "W", "X", and "Y" do not occur naturally in our alphabet ("gy", "ly", "ny", and "ty" are natural but they are considered one letter, double glyph.) If you have the right kind of keyboard, they are typed as a single letter.

To make accents on an American keyboard, at least on my Mac this is how it works: one must press the option key over a key which has the accent. For example, if I did option+e, I would get: Β΄. If I hit "e" again it would be: Γ©. You can do this with any vowel, I think: Γ‘, Γ©, Γ, Γ³, ΓΊ. To get an Β¨ you need option+u: ΓΌ. Works for others as well, you need it hardcore if you want to do Germanic languages as well as Hungarian. Also, for the double acute over the "o" like I type in "GyΕ‘r".... I cheat. I use the special characters function in a word program and just c/p if I know I'll be using it. I can't find the double acute on the keyboard. I think it's specific to one letter on mine, I forget which. Best thing to do is once you know which function on your keyboard allows you to use accents, is to play around in a word program. Then you can find weird ones like eszett: ß (only used in German, like "weiße" or "scheißen", the latter of which you do not say in polite company.)
Ok enough of me showing off of what my funky Mac keyboard can do haha. Here's a great place to learn the alphabet: [link] The website is really great for learning grammar as well.

Also, if you're in heavy metal, that's great, I found a website and they do list a few Hungarian bands: [link] This is one of them. I wish there was more Hungarian bands that can be broken out to the ears of other countries, I wish I could find one on YouTube. I literally learned German just about by accident because the genre of music I listen to is dominated by German bands (I can speak to Germans even. They say my accent is not very good though, but that is to be expected.) There needs to be some kind of Hungarian industrial or EBM or something....

BTW I like a little metal, I never really got into the genre... I know there's as kinds of Metal as there is Electronic... like I guess the band "Metallica" is "hair metal"; Emperor, Dimmu Borgir are "black metal" (Cradle of Filth too?); Strapping Young Lad is "heavy metal." I think other bands like Deftones or Dredg count as some kind of metal too, I'm not sure. I love "Metalocalypse" though... funny as Hell.

Children seem to be the worst when it comes to segregating others based on petty differences. It's an animal thing, to keep different people at bay. And as hard as we try humans are still just another species of animal. Still, we should try harder to overcome such instincts. We may be animals, but we're also civilised and we should know better than to blatantly abuse and ignore others. Good to know its not as big a deal anymore, though.

Yeah, I've looked up the Hungarian alphabet on many occasions and me oh my, that's a lot of letters. I was never good at learning other languages. In Canada, one of the requisites in elementary school is to learn French, and I struggled so hard trying to learn it. I'm... Still bad with that language. It helps that everything in Canada has to be written in English and French but only just. So learned a language like Hungarian would be most definitely hard. Still, I think it's a beautiful language. All the languages from over there have such a nice resonation to them. I dunno, I just like the sound of German and Hungarian and Russian and yes.

BUT we tend to eat letcho with added sausage over the vegetables. And served over rice: It's absolutely sublime. I love the stuff. And now that the vegetables are in season we should be making some more. It's so good when it's been sitting in the fridge for a while, too, sucking up all the flavour. That langos sounds amazing, though. I think my grandma makes it regularly (we don't visist her a whole lot because her and my dad don't exactly see eye to eye) and I think I've had some. Tasty stuff. I blame my family's cooking for my complete lack of a sweet tooth. I absolutely love the taste of garlic!

There's a whole whack of different kinds of metal. Black metal, death metal, symphonic death metal, nu metal, heavy metal: the list just keeps on going. That's probably why I like it so much, because there's so much variety.

Ah took me forever to reply....

Anyways, yeah, I think this kind of human behavior really is somewhat instinctive. It didn't really help when adults are needlessly mean to you in front of the other kids!

We had to have a language credit in high school and I chose to do French, and also I was unofficially tutored in a LITTLE German (I hung out with a couple people who could speak it anyways, and back then I was a huge Rammstein fan haha...) ...I found French words to look very similar to English and be very similar in meaning, but to speak good French you really have to have the accent for it. German has very similar sounding words and the meaning is is close to the English sounding word, and they have what kind of looks like awkward spelling but it looks and sounds very much like English, however I have trouble responding (like figuring out in which order the sentence should go.) I know it should be obvious, but it isn't; this is why I was able to speak to my ex-girlfriend's host parents in Germany over the phone... they spoke English as a second language, so they could talk to me in German and I could answer back in English (Klaus was a very interesting fellow, btw haha.) German seems to be one of those languages that if you're around it enough you pick it up.

I get very frustrated that learning Hungarian isn't the same way. I feel my ears should be used to it and I can imagine how it sounds so I can speak it... but it just isn't the case. I don't like it that I have learned some communication skills and practiced them, but when it comes to real conversation I can't carry it. Same problem with German that I have with Hungarian; if I understand what I'm being told, I can't figure out how to structure my sentences to say anything back.

And yeah, that's the traditional way to eat it. Man, I have a voracious sweet tooth... in treating a drug addiction I do believe I developed an addiction to sweets (I need comfort food!) Although I always have kind of got these weird... chocolate-gasms.... hahah

Also, could you recommend me a couple of bands in the black metal / death metal / symphonic death metal? I don't think I ever really gave metal a chance, besides the few bands that I listen to.

It's just like dogs: they snap at their owners or other dogs when food is around simply so they can hoard it all for themselves, an evolutionary trait in order to survive. Humans, in all our intelligence and technology, are the same way, especially when we're still young and running off of base instincts as well as intelligence. Adults, though, should know better.

Well at least you understand the language. I simply cannot wrap my head around it to save my life!

I actually don't listen to those specific genres of metal all that much, I'm more of an industrial and heavy metal person, myself, but Killswitch Engage has some good music and I thoroughly enjoy them, as well as As I Lay Dying. Or, heck. Here's my YouTube page for you to peruse. I tend to just hoard music and I have a music playlist if you want to check it out. I don't remember bands very well unless I actually buy their albums so I'm no help in naming new bands. See what you like in my playlist. It's a hodge-podge. You may find some cool stuff.

This picture alone looks far more professional than any of my rubbish. My stuff shouldn't even be on DA at all; it's more suitable for photobucket or the reprehensible MySpace.
