Description
It's Tez.He's the demon that possessed Alistor.
I decided to model him for my demo reel.
Now with colours!
Basemesh in Maya, sculpting and texturing in ZBrush.
So yes. Demon's in my novel are only referred to as such because of how different that are from everything in this dimension. They cannot survive on Earth or this plane of existence, save for a select few mutations, without a shell to survive in. Like demons of lore, they can possess a human, an animal, even machinery if need be. The only restriction is size, so some of the larger demons have trouble finding a suitable shell before dying on Earth.
They are an advanced species. Far more advanced then we are. For lack of a better term, their technology can be simply described as 'hyper-tech', if only because, when faced with it, it comes off as magic. Their technology is incomprehensible to the human mind.
Demons come in many different forms. Their true form, whatever it was back when the species was still young, has long since been lost to eons of genetic alteration. Every demon looks as they do because they brought it upon themselves, usually to better survive a chosen climate or to achieve more specialized tasks. Or even as a mark of dominance, to show the younger generations that they mean business. And, in a scant few cases, it is done solely to portray one's status. The elder demons, though scantly seen, are among the weirdest demons there are.
They are called the DΔth'illyas.

Oh, it's alright. The Engine of Insanity has a bad memory, too. A STUPID memory, at that. I'll remember every location of the bonus barrels in Donkey Kong Country 2, but I won't for the life of me remember when my one year anniversary is. D;

I'm thinking about it. God knows I have the time, so there's a good chance you'll see a coloured version one of these days.

Well... Even just a little texturing would be nice. If you want to leave the old steel and just texture a little, even that would be enough. He does look really awesome.

TIP! I know you love texturing. I love them too. Textures are fun. FUN I say!
Maybe it would be totally awesome if you started (After you've gotten this demo thingy out of the way) to model the texture more into the... model... I don't know maya terms. Basically - sculpt most of the texture, that way it can add to the texture image you add later.
It's like how I try to get most of the detail in my pencil drawing before adding to it in photoshop and adding a texture onto that. It's the concept that it's easier to remove an extra something than to add it in last minute.
I could be rambling... I've been working all day.
I like it's face. It's cool n stuff.

Delta-Hexagon In reply to ElmaFaux [2010-06-27 17:00:06 +0000 UTC]
I kind of get what you're saying. Something like for the time being forget the colour, and try and make it awesome without colour? Or something? So it looks just as good without the texture? Iunno, that's what I'm getting out of what you're saying.
And this ain't Maya, it's the beauty known only as ZBrush.
